What is the College Board doing to reach out to Latino students?
A Q&A With David Coleman, President and CEO of the College Board

by Rev. Samuel Rodríguez via Univision

When you talk about higher education in America, there is one organization that every student and parent knows about: the College Board.
This week, as part of my work with the Faith and Education Coalition and our focus on education equality, I have the great honor of interviewing the President and CEO of the College Board David Coleman.
As president of the purveyors of the PSAT/NMSQT and SAT, as well as Advanced Placement courses that offer high school students the opportunity to earn college credit before graduating,
College Board CEO David Coleman is one of the most influential voices in all of American education. His insights into college testing, especially for Hispanic and other minority students, could make all the difference in your child's educational success.

Dr. Andrea Ramirez, Executive Director of the NHCLC's Faith and Education Coalition, encourages Secretary DeVos to ensure that marginalized children are the Department of Education's highest priority

Now that Betsy DeVos is settled in as America's new Secretary of Education she holds the reins of the U.S. Department of Education and, with it, the future of America's 55.6 million students.

An advocate of school choice, Secretary DeVos is poised to bring major policy changes to our country's lagging education system. Despite Bush and Obama-era revamps to the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965, America still struggles to create equitable, high-quality education, accessible to all students.

My Dad almost died this month but God stepped in and saved his life.

Dad is a 90 year old War II Navy veteran who had unexpected serious surgery. Thousands of our friends prayed and God answered those prayers. My family and I are grateful.

Sometimes God intervenes in your life and does something special and important. That happened to me a number of years ago when Charles Stanley, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Atlanta, Georgia asked me to be his special preaching assistant for five years. It was an amazing time in my life.

Weekly Devotional

The Best YOU Can Be
by the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews

"'When anyone becomes aware that they are guilty in any of these matters, they must confess in what way they have sinned. As a penalty for the sin they have committed, they must bring to the LORD  a female lamb or goat from the flock as a sin offering
and the priest shall make atonement for them for their sin.'"
-Leviticus 5:5-6

The Torah portion for this week is Vayikra, which means "and He called," from Leviticus 1:1-5:26, and the Haftorah is from Isaiah 43:21-44:23.

Most sacrifices were directly prescribed by Scripture, but when it came to describing the sacrifice brought by the sinner, there was a sliding scale. Not everyone brought the same offering when they sinned against God. But the scale was not determined by the gravity of the committed sin; it was determined by the amount of money the person had.
