Athens International Film & Video Festival

The second week of the Athens International Film + Video Festival is in full swing. This week we host a multitude of movies--from foreign to domestic, comedy to documentary, experimental to traditional narratives-that will find the interest of all persons, no matter their age or inclinations.

In conjunction with the 41st Athens International Film + Video Festival and the Science on Screen series, the Athena Cinema is screening Particle Fever. This film follows the inside story of six brilliant scientists seeking to unravel the mysteries of the universe, documenting the successes and setbacks in the planet's most significant and inspiring scientific breakthrough.

How can toxic pollution become art? Join John Sabraw, artist and Associate Professor of Art at the Ohio University School of Art + Design, to learn about his pioneering work to harvest Ohio's toxic coal sludge, transforming it into paint, and then, into art. Enjoy a lecture by Sabraw, or stay afterward for a guided hands-on art workshop that will allow participants to create their own piece of art using Sabraw's paints.

 

Cost: Lecture Only: $10 | Lecture + Workshop: $40
