Exploring Entrepreneurship
This offering will provide you with an overview of the critical first steps associated with starting a business. It is designed specifically for those who are thinking about a new business venture. Participants will learn about the importance of planning, discuss basic legal and regulatory requirements such as legal structires, licensing, and tax form requirements. You'll also be introduced to marketing and financial basics which will enable you to determine your market and competitive strategy. An aspiring entrepreneur needs to walk through this process and do the work up front before investing hard-earned money to avoid making costly mistakes. You'll leave this class with tools for personal assessment, such as startup cost estimation, financial statements and sales projections. You'll gain the basic knowledge to start a small business and be better able to make informed decisions. Class scheduled for Wednesday, February 2nd, from 5:30 to 7pm to be held in W0009 Lafferre Hall, 416 S. 6th Street, Columbia ( see map). Cost is $25. Human Resources Basics for Small Business Owners
No HR Department? Do you struggle with the legal aspects of employment? This training is for YOU!! Human resource management issues are the most challenging for small business owners. Get a working knowledge in employment law - liability management, givernment compliance, workers' compensation, wage and hour law, unemployment, record keeping, posts, job descriptions and manuals. Get a foundation to work from while managing the HR system in your business.
