We are getting ready to celebrate the National Digital Inclusion Week, May 8 -13, 2017! The week is an opportunity to raise awareness about digital inequities and the nationwide efforts to close those gaps from California to the Carolinas. Throughout the week, Austin Free-Net will be hosting several FREE digital events locally:
Monday, May 8 - My Tech Story (Premiers Monday! AFN YouTube Channel) Why is digital inclusion important? Learn more about the importance of digital equity from people whose lives have been changed through technology.
Tuesday, May 9 - Smartphone Basics Workshop 10 AM-12 PM/ Location: DeWitty Center, Austin We are offering a free, drop-in interactive session for members of the community. Register here!
Wednesday, May 10 - Cyber Seniors Movie Premiere 10:00 AM -12:00 PM (Conley Guerrero Senior Activity Center) / 3:30-5:30 PM (South Austin Senior Activity Center) AFN is hosting a special screening of the documentary "Cyber Seniors" with the senior community. The film takes a fun look and insightful look at teens helping seniors bridge the digital gap.

What is the state of digital equity across the country? Join us for a local and virtual discussion about this timely topic. Leading policymakers, educators and representatives from the technology industry will discuss the impact of digital inclusion programs and opportunities to get more communities connected in the years to come. Saturday, May 13 - Digital Resource Fair 10 AM - 1 PM / Doris Miller Auditorium
Vendors will be on site with information about technology training programs for the family and free online community resources. The event will also showcase some exciting new technologies.
