Come Home Before Dark
I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.
John 9:4
“Jesus Loves Me” is a song many children learn while very young. Though
the words are true, there is more to Christianity than just love. I
have taken the liberty to write several more verses, one of which is:
“Jesus will judge me, this I know, for the Bible tells me so. If I
choose to live in sin, hell awaits me in the end.”
People today are living in self-inflicted darkness.
Having allowed the devil to blind them, they live consumed in sin. But
God said He would not always contend with our self-indulgences and
neglect of godly things (see Genesis 6:3).
As the text states, “night cometh.” There is coming
a time when you’ll no longer be able to make things right with your
fellow man. You may think you have plenty of time for restoration, but
only God knows the number of a man’s days. We must learn to “give
roses” while people live. Now is the time to mend
relationships. Now is the time to let God revive your family and
draw your loved ones together.
There is coming a time when you won’t be able to
fulfill your purpose in life. Many hustle around, fulfilling the plan
they have for their own lives. However, God is the One with the plan;
we must check with Him to find out what it is. What a tragedy to find
that we spent so much time improving our talents, but no time improving
our relationship with God. We must work while it is day and be sure to
come home before dark.
