The River's Edge Community Band is looking for area musicians to join our Thursday evening rehearsals in Hudson High School's band room, 69 Brigham Street, Hudson. Adults and students in grade 8 or older are welcome to the first open rehearsal on Thursday, September 27th from 7 - 9 pm. Not sure you want to join? Come to the open rehearsal and see if this is the band experience you're looking for. This ensemble is made up of talented musicians from over seventeen surrounding towns. All instruments are welcome. This season we are specifically looking for musicians who play tuba, trombone, French horn, bassoon and clarinet
The River's Edge Community Band is a under the outstanding leadership of founding artistic director Jason Caron, a talented musician with a bachelor's degree in music education and a master's degree in bassoon performance from the Hartt School, University of Hartford. Caron is also director of bands at Hudson High School and principal bassoonist for the Metropolitan Wind Symphony.
In its 11th season, The River's Edge Community Band has two major concerts throughout the year with the first being held on December 15th at Hudson High School and the second in June at Wood Park as part of the Arts In the Park series. Both of these concerts are joint projects with the River's Edge Chorale and River's Edge Youth Chorus and is a welcomed community tradition. All three groups are programs of the Arts Alliance, a non-profit arts organization cultivating community arts and arts education.
Families find that participating in this community musical group can be a great way to enjoy quality time with family members. We invite you to enjoy the camaraderie and organization of this fine community band. It is an opportunity to rehearse with other musicians who live nearby and love to perform a variety of music, both challenging and enjoyable.
