Friday Night Live in West Oakland

Friday Night Live has begun in West Oakland! Every Friday will have a different theme and last week the focus was dreams and self-determination. Community members came out to do art, dance, enjoy music, eat food, mingle, meet new people, etc. from 6-9 pm which will continue every Friday until August 14th. Tonight is themed economics; resource and job fair, so come out to take advantage of the opportunity to learn about useful and available tools for economic resiliency. The event is borne out of violence prevention efforts by the city to create safe spaces for children, youth, adolescents, adults and elders to come together and exchange energy, knowledge and wisdom.

Tonight's art project will engage the community around concepts of wealth and various definitions. How do we define wealth? What are steps to achieve wealth? How can communal wealth affect individual wealth and vice versa?
