Alicia Michael 
Past District 6900 Governor

Alicia Michael is the former owner of an automotive collision repair company in Georgia.  After serving as the managing director of her company for two years, she became a partner in 2000.  She went on to become the sole owner and CEO in 2002 and remained until the sale of her business in January, 2016.

After spending several years focusing on her business, Alicia began looking for a way to serve her community and was introduced to Rotary.  She joined the Rotary Club of Carrollton Dawnbreakers in March 2005.    Alicia was honored to receive the District 6900 Sheffield Leadership Award in 2008-2009 for District President of the Year in Category II club size. 

She is a member of the Paul Harris Fellow Society and The Rotary Foundation Bequest Society.  Alicia served District 6900 as an Assistant Governor from 2010-2013 and as the Rotary District 6900 Governor in 2014 - 2015, working with 69 Rotary clubs and over 4,300 Rotarians throughout the state of Georgia.    Other non-profit and community involvement includes service on a number of local boards,  Executive Director of Carroll County's Certified Literate Community Program, LIFT (Literacy Is for Today and Tomorrow, Inc.) from 2012 to 2015. She also served on the Advisory Board for the 2014 100 Black Men of Atlanta Football Classic and on the Board of Directors for the Atlanta Tipoff Club (presenter of the NCAA Basketball Naismith Trophy). 

Alicia was named the Chamber of Commerce Small Business Person of the Year in 2010 and the Women's Business Alliance Woman of the Year in 2014.
Alicia assumed the role of President and CEO with Rotarians for Family Health and AIDS Prevention, Inc.  in July, 2016. She is now focused on the business of making a difference by creating and maintaining sustainable partnerships through global outreach and messaging.

This year's Service Above Self golf tournament was the best one yet and Alana Shepherd, co-founder of Shepherd Center, visited our Club's July 19 meeting to receive our contribution to the SHARE Military Initiative!   Congratulations to the entire Brookhaven Rotary team for making such a great impact!

Ogie Shaw - What to do about Childhood Obesity? 

Ogie Shaw is a native of Raleigh, NC. After 4 years in US Army Intelligence including a year in Viet Nam, he attended the University of NC at Chapel Hill. He graduated with degrees in both Speech and Physical Education. He has a Master of Sacred Ministry degree from Multnomah Biblical Seminary in Portland, Oregon. He earned a Certificate as a Health Promotion Director from The Cooper Institute Ò in Dallas, Texas. He was recruited to the Northwest by the Portland Police Bureau where he was presented a commendation by the Chief after only two months as a police officer. He left police work to become a national fitness speaker and consultant teaching the health benefits of daily exercise. He has been an author, counselor, pastor, and conditioning consultant to professional sports teams.
 
Ogie has been married to his wife Julie  for 30 years. Julie is a George Fox University seminary graduate and Licensed Tax Consultant. They have 3 kids; Chris is a graduate of Morehouse College and works in engineering in Seattle. Tyler graduated from Azusa Pacific University in California in Film Directing. He was a part of the team that made the winning Super Bowl commercial three years ago. Daughter Lynley has been  a Color Guard coach at Century High School, and just graduated from George Fox University in Oregon majoring in Elementary Education.
