We are very excited to announce that Bill Lishman, aka Father Goose, will be the guest speaker at our Annual General Meeting and Grant Announcement Event on May 4th!

Bill  is a Canadian artist, sculptor, naturalist, filmmaker and speaker. He will be speaking about his Operation Migration project, and how he trained geese to fly with his ultralight airplane. Bill was the inspiration for the Hollywood movie, Fly Away Home, and also created the Pisces Pete fish sculpture in Hastings.

Fly Away Home is one of the movies in the Aron Theatre's Movies for Schools program, which was funded by a 2016 15th Anniversary grant from the Community Foundation. Local elementary schools have been invited to see a  showing of the movie in the afternoon before our event, and will have a chance for a Q & A session with Bill.

We are then sponsoring a FREE showing of Fly Away Home at the Aron Theatre that evening at 7:30 p.m. - Everyone is welcome to attend - both our afternoon event to hear Bill's presentation, and the evening showing of the film.

Fly Away Home has mostly positive critical reviews, receiving an 86% approval rating from  Rotten Tomatoes .
Audiences and critics enjoyed the evocative, uplifting family-oriented film which also received critical acclaim. Roger Ebert noted: "There are individual shots here almost worth the price of admission...[including] a stunning shot in which the towers of Baltimore materialize from the mist, and office workers see the little girl and her geese flying past their windows."
The uplifting theme of the film was often cited; Frederic and Mary Ann Brussat extolled: "The movie adds excitement and emotion, turning into a celebration of the creative ways human beings and animals can serve, assist, and love one another."

We would also like to invite you to attend an estate planning workshop.
