The Comfort of Strangers:
Hospitality Between Jews and Non-Jews

Sunday, October 18, 2015
10:00 AM - 3:00 PM
at the Jewish Federation of St. Joseph Valley

It is very exciting to have this free one day adult education workshop featuring IU Jewish Studies Professor Guadalupe Gonzalez-Dieguez, Sarah Imhoff, and Mark Roseman right here in South Bend.

Taking in ancient, medieval and modern times, and using original documents from medieval Spain, early 20th Century America, and Germany before and during the Nazi years, this half day workshop will explore limits and possibilities of hospitality between Jews and non-Jews.

Please take advantage of this opportunity and let's have a wonderful turn out! Lunch is provided, as well as childcare from 8:45 AM to 3 PM. A copy of the schedule is available at the Jewish Federation office. Register by email to Melissa Deckard ( [email protected]) or call 812-856-6014.

Registration deadline is October 7, 2015.
Ilene and Jeff New look forward to your attendance.

Impact! With Speaker Dr. Erin Leonard
Author of Emotional Terrorism:
Breaking the Chains of a Toxic Relationship.

 October 11, 2015,  11:00 AM Sunday morning

Dr. Erin Leonard, a local psychotherapist who is very interested in the topic of good and evil, will be our presenter for the day. Dr. Leonard's practice deals with bullies, both the common bullies we hear about in childhood, but also the bullies in the adult world, such as coworkers. She has much to teach us about how to deal with difficult people who "terrorize" us.

Join us for Brunch at 11:00 AM followed by Dr. Leonard's lecture and discussion.
Brunch is $5. Please make your reservation, so we can plan ahead.
To RSVP or for questions on these programs, please contact Monika Wayne at 574-233-1164 ext. 119 or [email protected].
