Bike to the Market Day

Celebrate National Bike Month and support local farms and food by participating in Bike to the Market Day! On Sunday, May 7, all guests are invited t
o pedal down to the Baltimore Farmers’ Market & Bazaar for the chance to meet fellow bikers, local bike groups and win prizes and giveaways. Bikemore will provide a free “bike valet” for attendees to leave their bikes while they shop. Additional bike racks are available throughout the market. Other local bike shops participating are Baltimore Bicycle Works, Joe’s Bike Shop, Light Street Cycles and Race Pace Bicycles.

Pick of the Week Recipe: Strawberry Shortcake
|
Treat a wonderful woman in your life to Strawberry Shortcake this Mother’s Day!
The Strawberries
- 1 quart local Strawberries
- 1 tablespoon Sugar
Washed, de-stem and slice the strawberries into a bowl and sprinkle with the sugar. Stir with a spoon a couple of times, cover and set aside. Stir occasionally to release the juices.
Whipped Cream
- 1 cup Heavy Whipping Cream
- 1 teaspoon Sugar
Pour the cream into a mixing bowl and whip until loose peaks are formed. Sprinkle the sugar while continuing beating until stiff peaks are formed. Cover and refrigerate.

Pan Shortcake
Get a 8-9” pan and Preheat oven to 400 degrees
- 2 cups unbleached Flour
- 2 teaspoons Baking Powder
- ¼ teaspoon Baking Soda
- 2+ tablespoons Sugar
- 3/4 teaspoon Salt
- ½ teaspoon Vanilla Extract
- 1 ½ cups Whole Milk
In a bowl whisk the dry ingredients together. Add vanilla to the milk and pour into dry ingredients, stir until the ingredients are just holding together… do not beat or over stir.
Fold into ungreased pan and cook for 18-20 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool on a rack.
Assemble!
Cut the shortcake into squares or triangles. Split each piece of shortcake placing a spoon of strawberry juice and a spoon of whipped cream between and then cover the whole cake with the strawberries, juice and whipped cream

On the first Sunday of each month from 9:30 to 11am, Join Chef Egg for a unique cooking "eggsperience." Classes include a quick tour of the market to visit local farmers & vendors, then preparing easy recipes with farm fresh ingredients from the market. Plus! The special guest sous-chef

*Compliments of Mercy Medical Center, patrons can park for free in the Mary Catherine Bunting Garage, located at 330 Guilford Avenue, Baltimore, MD 21202, for two hours (maximum) from 7am to noon.
Vehicles should enter through the Pleasant Street entrance.Guests can bring their ticket to the Welcome Tent for validation.
