Common Bonds Between Islam and Catholicism

Will the world's two largest religions converge and be the catalyst for the prophesied one-world religion?  At first glance, the two faiths appear to be vastly different but under close inspection, they have more common bonds than differences. In 1994 the Vatican issued a publication entitled: "Spiritual Bonds Which Unite Us: 16 Years of Christian-Muslim Dialogue." After extensive study and research, I put forth 10 common bonds that will help unite these two religions.

1. Both Esteem and Honor Mary - Muslims and Catholics both call her, "Our Lady." and venerate her as a pure and holy saint. Mary is mentioned more in the Qu'ran than the Bible.

2. Both Seek Messages from Apparitions of MaryMany of the messages make it clear she is coming for all her children including Muslims, Catholics and Protestants and that people of all religions can be saved apart from Jesus Christ as long as they are good.

3. Both Are Anti-Semitic -  The Vatican has issued over 100 anti-semitic documents and taught the Jews should be cursed because they killed Christ. Mohammed words recorded in a hadith say, "The last day will not come until the Muslims destroy the Jews."

4. Both Embrace Another Jesus
Catholicism has a counterfeit Jesus whose death on the cross was not sufficient to save them.
Islam also has a counterfeit Jesus (Isa) who did not die on a cross and is not God, only a prophet.

5. Both Seek World Dominion - Both religions rule with an autocratic government and have a history of forced conversions, and killing those who oppose them. Could these religions which control people with indoctrination, intimidation, and fear be a precursor to the rule of Anti-christ?

6. Both Deny the Authority of Scripture - The pagan beliefs of both religions stand opposed to the Bible. Muslims reject the Bible as the final revelation from God declaring that God has revealed a final testament: the Qu'ran which is their supreme authority.

7. Both Use Prayer Beads to Avoid Punishment - Catholics pray the rosary to remit punishment for sin. Muslins use 99 beads that correspond to the names of God. Praying to Allah five times a day is an act of obedience to escape the punishment imposed on those who do not pray.

8. Both Take Pilgrimages to Obtain Favor from God - Catholics take pilgrimages for religious purification and the promise of indulgences. Muslims take pilgrimages to Mecca, a mandatory religious duty that must be carried out at least once in their lifetime.

9. Both Have Human Mediators - Catholics rely on the priesthood to dispense salvation through sacraments and seek Mary to intercede with God on their behalf. Muslims rely on the intercession of Muhammad on judgment day. He will prostrate himself before Allah who will say, "O Muhammad! speak, it will be heard; and be given; intercede, and it will be approved."

10. Both Have a Works-Righteousness Salvation
Allah will place one's good and evil works on the divine scale: "Those whose scales are light are those who lose their souls in hell" (Sura 23:102,103). In Catholicism, sacraments, good works and obeying the law are necessary for salvation.

These two religions represent a huge mission field with nearly 3 billion precious souls. They need to know the true Jesus and submit to His Word as their supreme authority. Only then will they repent of their works-righteousness salvation and believe the glorious Gospel of grace. As ambassadors for Christ let us sow the seed of His Word.

Considerations for a Neighborhood Bible Study

The apostle Peter calls Christians a people for God's own possession so that we may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called us out of darkness into His marvelous light (1 Pet. 2:9). Have you thought about proclaiming the glories of Christ to your neighbors?

Over the past 30 years we have been inviting neighbors over for Bible Studies that have proven to be very successful in a variety of ways. Not only have we introduced many of them to the glorious Gospel of salvation; we have also gone deeper in our relationships and been able to share the joys, trials, sorrows and adventures in everyone's  lives. At the end of each 90-minute study we serve dessert and have a time of fellowship for 30 minutes or longer.

We have found it is best to initially limit the number of meetings to three or four studies and meet every other week on a given night for 2 hours. This makes it easier for people to commit since they know that it will not run indefinitely. We also recommend you limit the size of the group to no more than 10 or 12 people. Extend a personal invitation to each person, or couple, and let them know what you will be discussing.

For our last neighborhood Bible Study we discussed ten reasons why we should believe the Bible on the first night so that we could establish the Bible as our supreme authority for knowing truth. The next week we studied the sufficiency of Jesus Christ to save sinners completely and forever. The third week we studied the Gospel and the need to repent and believe it for salvation. The 4th week we discussed the assurance of eternal life based on the power and promises of God. We also explained the difference between a false convert and a true born-again Christian. Of the nine people in our last Bible Study 6 had a Catholic background, one was a Muslim, and two had Methodist backgrounds.

We have some excellent resources to help you facilitate the Bible Studies. Our DVD Where Will You Spend Eternity  explains what the Gospel is and what it is not. The second message,
WhyShould I Believe the Bible
will help you establish the supreme authority of God's Word. Our Gospel Cards will help everyone understand God's Gospel of salvation. We can also send out sample outlines for your Bible Studies upon request with your orders. Let us know if we can encourage you in any way!

Pope Francis Tells Boy Atheist Father Went to Heaven, Counsels Him to Pray to His Dad

Pope Francis claimed a young boy's atheist father is in Heaven because he was a "good man" and God will not "abandon His children when they are good." He also counseled the child to pray to his deceased dad.He told the young boy, "Surely God was proud of your father" because he baptized his children even though he was an unbeliever. .

Mike's Comments: The pope should never speak for God unless he speaks from God's inspired, authoritative Word. The boy had better theology than the pope because he knew atheists deserve Hell. The pope should have shared God's Word to the boy and to everyone listening. Jesus said, no one comes to the Father except through me (John 14:6). Then he could have told the boy about the thief on the cross who lived his life as a sinful unbeliever, but in his last hour he repented and trusted Jesus to bring him into paradise (Luke 23:40-43). He could have comforted the boy by saying: 'Perhaps your dad trusted Jesus as his savior in his last moments on earth.' The pope also told the boy to do something that is detestable to God when he told him to pray to his dad. Perhaps he is unaware that anyone who consults the dead is detestable to the Lord (Deut. 18:10-12). It is tragic for Catholics to be led down the wide road to destruction by following the heretical teachings of this pope. It is my prayer that Catholics will test everyman's teaching with the supreme authority of God's Word (Acts 17:11). It is the only way anyone can be protected from false teachers who are leading people to Hell. The nature of deception is that people do not know they are deceived unless they are confronted with the truth. Read the article and Mike's interview with the Christian News Network here.

Help Us Rescue Catholics from Pope Francis

The Vatican will be releasing a major Hollywood motion picture documentary May 18th titled Pope Francis: a Man of His Word. It is an interesting title since the pope is all about his word and not God's Word. T he film uses a direct-to-camera visual and narrative concept that appears to be as crafty and cunning as the pope. It engages the audience as if the pope is having a face to face conversation with each viewer.

This will be a wonderful opportunity for those who love Catholics to engage them outside theaters and tell them about the one and only true Head of the Church and His glorious Gospel of grace. Many Catholics have become more and more disillusioned with this pope who has not told the truth about Catholicism or the Bible since he was elected. As they search for a more trustworthy source for truth there may never be a more favorable time to evangelize Catholics and share the truth that will set them free from religious deception and bondage (John 8:31-32). If you would like to join us or have questions about how you do this in your community send us an email. You may want to order some of our Gospel tracts for Catholics before you go out witnessing.

Letters to Edify and Encourage the Saints

Dear Mike, I thank you and praise God for your ministry! It was through your ministry, that my mom and I have been saved. I was born into the Catholic religion and was taught never to question anything. I am now 54 years old with many mistakes in my lifetime. But, one day, I decided to learn about Catholicism because so many people are ignorant and/or brainwashed and, fortunately, I found your ministry. I watched many of your YouTube videos and read your book, Preparing for Eternity. Your ministry summed up all my research for me. It was all I needed to take that leap of faith, and to leave the Catholic Church. As much as I have tried to minister to my family, they have too much "Catholic Pride."  Mike, I would be honored (and humbled) to serve God through your ministry, because there are so many souls to be saved. I, like you, have worked for Corporate America and have realized, I needed to do more with my life with respect to serving our Lord Jesus Christ. I'm at a point in my life where saving souls is a priority. Thank you, Mike for all you do to win souls to the Lord...there are so many who are lost and I want to help! L. M., Durham, CT

Mike, You evangelicals have a problem if you do not accept the need for baptism, because babies who die before they are old enough to have the capacity for faith cannot be saved. For Catholics, we are baptised into the faith of the Church. This is actually an important sign that the RCC does indeed believe in justification as a gift of grace, for a baby or small child cannot do anything for himself. We believe that baptism makes us children of God, born again by water and the Spirit, set free from original sin, and given the graces needed to grow in faith, hope and love. The faith of a newly-baptised person is not a mature faith at that point, but this sacrament is the entry-point into the life of faith. Andy, Internet

Andy, You have explained the heretical Catholic position well. However, instead of baptizing infants, we must teach our children the truth of Scripture. By nature, they are born into this world spiritually dead, separated from God, and destined for everlasting misery! We must tell them of their need for salvation which God promises to believers only (Rom. 1:16). They must personally repent and believe in Jesus or be forever condemned (Mark 1:15). Infant baptism does not give a parent any assurance, impart to the child any blessing or bring any honor to the Lord. It only gives a false hope and denies the necessity to be justified by faith and born again by the sovereign work of the Holy Spirit (Rom. 4:5; John 3:6-8). Infant baptism unites the apostate church together and decieves thousands about life's most critical issue. It is truly astonishing, that a practice so destitute of all Scriptural authority and so opposed to the sovereign grace of God, should be practiced, approved, and defended by so many! Until you submit to the supreme authority for truth and faith you will remain on the wide road to destruction. You must repent (change your mind) and believe the Gospel to be saved.
