Executive Director William Gault, far right, stands proudly with our eight
First Holy Communicants and altar servers from The De La Salle School, with celebrant Our Holy Redeemer Pastor Father Douglas Arcoleo, far left.
Greetings from Mr. Gault

On Friday, 19 May, four students from fifth grade, two students from sixth grade and two students from eighth grade received their First Holy Communion during the 12:10 PM parish mass.  It was wonderful to see these eight young students take this next step in their faith Journey.  Saint John Baptist de La Salle wrote in a Meditation to his Brothers: "Earnestly ask Jesus that his Spirit may be alive in you."  The eight young men who asked to receive their First Holy Communion have done just that.  Please keep our First Communicants and all the students of The De La Salle School in your prayers.
Saturday, 20 May ten students took part in the Mock Trial program at St. John's University School of Law. Although it was a split decision the judge was very complimentary of our students' performance. Coached by attorneys Susan Bevilacqua and Grace Moran and assisted by two St. Johns University law students, the team from The De La Salle School went up against students from St. Brigid/Our Lady of Hope Regional School in Westbury. We were extremely proud of their participation and how well they represented our school.
Monday, 22 May we welcomed two young men from the Brothers Contact program who will spend the rest of the academic year volunteering in the school.  They will be living in the Brothers Community as part of their discernment process while considering a vocation with the Brothers.  Both young men are students at La Salle University.  Tim Robles is majoring in Sociology and Criminal Justice and he also volunteered with us last year.  Kevin Gomez is a graduate of The De La Salle School class of 2011 and he is majoring in History. Saint John Baptist de La Salle once wrote: "Example makes a much greater impression on the mind and heart than words."  Kevin is a great example for our students and is proof of what can be accomplished through hard work and dedication.  A third young man from the contact program, Mr. Tony Do will join us for the last two weeks of school.  He currently is a student at the University of Notre Dame.
Friday, 2 June the students will present their science projects during the Science Fair to be held in the school gymnasium.  Utilizing the new state of the art Brother Thomas P. Casey Science Lab, the students have prepared some very unique and interesting projects.  The program will start at 1:45 PM and will end at 3:15 PM.  Please feel free to stop in and see what The De La Salle School scientists have created.
Our Graduation Liturgy is scheduled for Thursday, 8 June at the 12:10 PM mass, and the graduation ceremony will be held at Our Holy Redeemer Church on Friday, 9 June at 7:00 PM.  You are cordially invited to join us for either or both of these ceremonies as we celebrate the accomplishments of the class of 2017 and welcome them as the newest members of our Graduate Support Program.
Gratefully yours in our brother, Saint La Salle,
William L. Gault
