Dear neighbors,

I'm writing to make you aware of an incident that occurred the morning of Wednesday, April 22nd.

A Lincoln Elementary student was walking by herself to school this morning, and as she approached the intersection of Grant Place and Cleveland Avenue, a white 4-door sedan started moving slowly along-side her as she walked down the street. At the intersection of of Grant and Cleveland, the car pulled up next to her and a man inside the car yelled, "Kid, get in the car!"

The driver was described as a white male, approximately 40 years old, short dark beard and mustache.  He was wearing a thick plaid shirt.

The student was unharmed and the Chicago Police Department was immediately notified. The police continue to investigate and I've requested they increase patrols in the area.

Please take a moment today to speak with your children about the importance of not talking to strangers. As always, please be aware of your surroundings and dial 9-1-1 to report any suspicious activity.

If my office can be of assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us directly at 773-348-9500 or via email at [email protected].
