More Police Needed - Community Alert
Dear Neighbor,

Over the last several weeks, there has been a disturbing uptick in crime in our area that is prompting me to call for an increased police presence in our community now.

In addition, I intend to firmly press for additional police officers to be hired and assigned to the 43rd Ward as part of this year's budget negotiations which begin in the coming weeks.

Two such incidents occurred in our community this week.

Last night, a strong-arm robbery in the 1600 block of North Dayton was solved within minutes when the assailant was quickly arrested and the victim identified the attacker.   A second incident happened  on Monday  night on West Roslyn where an armed assailant fled after the victim began shouting loudly.

Neither victim was seriously hurt. But clearly,  there  has been a recent increase in crime in our neighborhood that cannot be tolerated. We need an increased police presence, and more importantly, the Chicago Police Department needs additional manpower to continue to keep our streets safe.

In the meantime, please remain vigilant. Help stand up for our neighborhood by calling 911 immediately if you see anything suspicious in the area, on your block or in your alley. Remember to keep doors and windows locked on your cars and your home, and stay aware of your surroundings.

I will pass on details and Chicago Police Department updates on these cases as they become available.

Sincerely,
Michele Signature
