or Nathan Morse at

We rehearse together on the second and fourth Fridays of each
month at noon at Friendship Village of Columbus. If you're interested, but the rehearsal time doesn't work for you, just go for Baroque and contact us anyway:

If enough people are interested in an alternate time, I'm sure we can work out a second rehearsal schedule. Just because a hobby blows doesn't mean it's not fun!

Community Autumn Ritual

All are welcome to our community-wide autumn ritual, an earth-centered celebration of final harvest, apple fest, and the magic of autumn.  We'll honor our ancestors and prepare for winter with seasonal poetry, ritual, music, and food.  Nov. 1, 2016, 7:00 PM, North Unitarian Universalist Congregation, Lewis Center, OH.

UU History-Rev. Susan goes over the basics of Unitarian Universalist history, with a special eye to how understanding our past can help us refine our understanding of our current beliefs.  In two Sunday sessions-Oct. 23 and Oct. 30, 9:00 AM-10:15 AM, Fellowship Hall.  Sign up on the bulletin board in Fellowship Hall, or online at

LOOSE CHANGE OFFERING FOR OCTOBER will be donated to Habitat for Humanity-MidOhio Build for Unity project.  This is a collaborative effort by members of various faith communities to fund and build a home for a deserving Central Ohio family while also building a foundation for tolerance and cooperation.  The project will bring people together to inspire hope, build a home, empower a family, and help develop community.  Watch for a story in the Friday Life and Arts section of The Columbus Dispatch in late October.
SAVE THE DATE FOR UUJO JUSTICE ASSEMBLY: Unitarian Universalist Justice Ohio (UUJO) is a state action network for Ohio's 38 Unitarian Universalist congregations with a mission to organize justice seekers statewide to promote education, service and advocacy consistent with liberal religious principles and to witness with and on behalf of marginalized groups and individuals.  Since its founding in October 2012, UUJO has organized annual Justice Assemblies in the state capital, held public witness events, conducted regional training workshops and served as an information clearinghouse on eight issues: criminal and racial justice, economic justice, environment, immigration.

Please join us for the fifth annual Unitarian Universalist Justice Ohio (UUJO) Justice Assembly on Saturday, November 12th, 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. We have a new location this year, the Methodist Theological School in Ohio, 3081 Delaware Pike, Delaware, Ohio 43015. The theme for the Justice Assembly will be "Connecting for Racial Justice: Intersectionality and Stories of Change." The UUJO planning team is preparing an informative, inspirational day, as UUJO will continue working to build a statewide moral movement to confront intersecting justice issues in collaboration with a variety of partners. You will be able to register and access regular updates at the UUJO web site

REPURPOSING PLASTIC BAGS: Sometimes we forget to bring our reusable bags to the store and end up with plastic bags.  Now you can donate your plastic bags to the Ohio Reformatory for Women where inmates are making sleeping mats for homeless people. To make the mats, inmates cut the bags into strips, link those strips into circles, then roll them into a yarn-like ball.  They knit the strips into chains, and then link all the chains together. It can take up to 90 hours and 600 to 800 bags to complete a mat.  The Vineyard, a Columbus church, distributes the mats to homeless people living in camps through its urban ministry program. Crocheting the mats gives the women purpose and meaningful activity by teaching them they can take care of someone else and the Earth.  You can leave your plastic bags in the designated bin next to the office in Fellowship Hall.

HORIZON PRISON INITIATIVE: At the UUA General Assembly in June 2016, UU's donated over $60,000 to Horizon.  The Ohio Attorney General's office matched our donation.  As a result, Horizon was able to open a new program at the Ohio Reformatory for Women in Marysville.  On September 30th, members of our congregation were guests at the Opening Ceremony and had the opportunity to visit the Horizon dorm and meet the participants.  Horizon Prison Initiative is a multifaith program whose mission is to transform prisoners who then transform the prison and community.  If you are interested in becoming a Horizon volunteer, contact Pam Patsch at .  You can find more information on the bulletin board in Fellowship Hall or on the Horizon website at .

UUSC FAIR TRADE COFFEE:  Shop for delicious Fair Trade coffee, tea, cocoa, and chocolate after the service on October 9, 2016.  Your purchase of Fair Trade products means that workers along the supply chain are provided a living wage.  The Unitarian Universalist Service Committee (UUSC) supports a number of worker-owned, local producers who are in danger of being replaced with multinational corporations that have little respect for workers' rights.  Making consumer choices that are aligned with our UU Principles is one way to help create a more just world community .
