Badger & Jt. 1 Goals In Action:
Develop Transition Programs

Lake Geneva Middle School has been recognized for its strong Academic and Career Planning program (ACP) for 6-8th graders. LGMS counselors Mrs. Julie Milligan and Mr. Rob Ocker were invited by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction to present and share program best practices at the Wisconsin ACP Leadership Conference in Madison Dec. 6 & 7.

The program was also featured in the Lake Geneva Regional News on Dec. 22.

Last year, the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction issued a mandate that requires all state middle schools and high schools to implement a formal ACP program, effective September, 2017.

LGMS is far ahead of the curve in terms of ACP implementation, and offers a full-scale program that is
integrated with the state’s new Career Cruising academic and career exploratory and planning website.

One of the best things about the LGMS program is that it helps students begin connecting the dots between the classroom and the real world. With dedicated support from school counseling staff and through a progressive Life Studies course that is taken by all students during their 6th and 8th grade year, students have ample opportunities to explore career options and interests, and resources to plan which classes and pathways to take in high school and beyond to achieve their education and career goals.  Learn more
