A Note from CEO, and President, Dr. Harriet Hall
Dear Partners and Friends,

Wow, where has the time gone? It was last March that the Jefferson Center Board announced that Kiara Kuenzler would be the new CEO of Jefferson Center, and I shared that I would be stepping down as CEO in mid-July... and now it seems like every day I am going to my last meeting of this or that group that I have attended regularly. While it is feeling bittersweet, I am also very excited to be working with Kiara who will be our new CEO. The more we work together, the clearer it is that the leadership of this incredible organization will be in excellent hands! You'll be hearing from Kiara later this summer.

I want thank those of you who attended the Center's 60th  Anniversary Gala last month. I was so humbled to be honored by all of you! As CEO of Jefferson Center for the past 34 years I have been proud to lead this center and blessed to have been able to work beside such a talented, committed and passionate group of staff. I have also been honored to work with incredible people in the community at various organizations to increase access to services for those in need and to help create a healthy community.  It has been a privilege and has brought me many rewards.

There is only one reason we do this wonderful work - to make lives better for those individuals and their families who suffer with mental health problems and substance use disorders. That's why I'm glad I don't have to say goodbye yet. I will have a new part-time role at Jefferson Center supporting our work related to strategic planning and partnerships and supporting the Center down at the legislature during the next legislative session.

But first, I am going to take off on a long needed vacation with my husband. We are travelling in our RV (named Hildeway) to Alaska, hauling our new electric bicycles, and seeing the surrounding sites on the way and back during our 5 week trip. So, thank you all for your support and friendship these past many years and...see ya later!

How long have you been here and what was it like when you started?

I have worked for Jefferson Center for twenty years. When I first started here back in 1997, I was part of the Summit Center team, the vocational clubhouse program. The Clubhouse model at Summit Center, involved inviting members (in the Clubhouse model, consumers are called members) to Summit Center to manage all the operations of the program. This involved staff and members working side-by-side as colleagues, to build confidence and strengthen work skills, with the hope of getting members into a paid Transitional Employment Placement (TEP) in the community. I had the privilege of working as a job coach teaching members their new positions at Coors Brewery, Lakewood Library and at the Kong Pet Toy Company in Golden.
