Community Foundation to Administer Fund for the

Aurora Public Library Foundation

Construction of the new Richard and Gina Santori Public Library is scheduled to be completed in May, 2015.

Aurora, IL - The Community Foundation of the Fox River Valley is proud to announce that it will administer the Aurora Public Library Foundation Santori Fund.  This fund will support the new Richard and Gina Santori Public Library, which is under construction at the corner of River and Benton Streets, and is projected to open in May, 2015.

In December, 2013, the Aurora Public Library Foundation announced that Aurora's new Main Library at 101 S. River Street will be named the Richard and Gina Santori Public Library of Aurora.  At that time, the Library Foundation also announced that Dr. Gina Santori would be making a $3 million gift to support the fund, which will benefit all Aurora Public Library locations.

According to Aurora Public Library Executive Director Daisy Porter-Reynolds, the fund will help ensure that the Santori Library and the Aurora Public Library branches will have the financial ability to provide the latest technology into the future.  "We are very grateful for Dr. Santori's support and hope that others, too, will invest in this fund," she said.

"We are looking forward to working with the Community Foundation of the Fox River Valley on the management of this fund that will benefit people of all ages and backgrounds," added Aurora Public Library Foundation President Todd Drafall.

The current Main Library began serving patrons in 1904.  A $50,000 grant from philanthropist Andrew Carnegie helped to establish the current site. Through the Building Community...Transforming Lives Campaign, $4 million has been donated for the fund and other purposes and 25 spaces in the Santori Library have been named to honor these donations.

"We are pleased to partner with the Aurora Public Library Foundation to administer this fund in the most effective way to serve the technology needs of Aurora's residents for years to come," said Community Foundation President & CEO Sharon Stredde.
