Naperville, IL - The Community Foundation of the Fox River Valley (CFFRV) and The DuPage Community Foundation (DCF) joined BMO Private Bank for a panel discussion at Hotel Arista on October 27. During the event, Sandy Lincoln, Chief Marketing Strategist for BMO Asset Management provided an economic outlook and market update.
Afterwards, CFFRV President & CEO, Sharon Stredde, and DCF President, David McGowan, discussed the importance of community foundations and local philanthropy. "BMO prides itself on providing top-notch market analysis and renowned economic experts, while maintaining the intimate feel of a community bank," said Nate Wasson, BMO Private Bank Managing Director and DCF board member. "Every one of our Private Bank employees gives back to their local community - whether it is through gifts of their time, talents, or treasures. It's what sets us apart."
During the panel discussion, Stredde and McGowan outlined the importance of utilizing a community foundation when giving back to the community. "When it comes to the charitable landscape of our communities, the community foundation is the expert," said McGowan. "For individuals who aren't quite sure to whom, when, how much, or which assets they should use for their philanthropy, the community foundation provides a tremendous amount of value."
"Community foundations are the 'best-kept-secret' within their given service area," added Stredde. "Our organizations are treasures and we work very hard to make sure the community is aware of the services we provide - not just from a donor services perspective, but also from a grantmaking perspective." In 2013, CFFRV and DCF provided more than $5 million and $2.3 million back to their communities respectively. Collectively, CFFRV and DCF have assets totaling more than $135 million and have granted more than $71 million back to their local communities.
