Preparing your Small Business for the Holidays

With Halloween past, November is the time to begin preparing Small Buisnesses for the Christmas and New Years holiday rush. From marketing to growing your small business during the holiday season, here is a compilation of ideas to help get through the busiest time of year.

Customer appreciation
  1. Holiday Cards  - Send out personalized holiday cards to your most loyal customers
  2. Kid-friendly fun  - A great way to capture customers is through their kids. Hold a kids contest for a large prize giveaway or small giveaways for each entrant
  3. Giveaways  - Show your customers how much you appreciate them by giving away small useful items with each purchase or items that could be used as stocking stuffers

Publicity
  1. Decoration - There's something magical about a store window filled with beautiful holiday display. It's also a great way to promote your business to casual passersby.
  2. Local publicity - A great way to get some local publicity is by getting listed in local holiday gift guides or creating a guide for the top 10 gifts from your business.
  3. Online - Connect with your customers through social media such as Facebook and Twitter and through your updated website. An increased Facebook presence with pictures or videos of products and services during the next few months often gives customers gift ideas to purchase from your business.

Craft Fair Season

While the Christmas Holidays are still more than a month away, November is the season for craft fairs, markets and bazaars throughout the region. Many small business entrepreneurs have been busy preparing their products over the past several months. Attending the local craft fairs and purchasing hand crafted gifts from the vendors is a great way to support small businesses in the Cariboo Chilcotin during the holiday season.

See the list below for several of the craft fairs being advertised throughout the region for November:
