This coming Tuesday, we will be holding a public hearing on the efforts to save Associated Supermarket on Fort Washington and 187th Street from closing. This issue is severely important as it is the one affordable supermarket in the area, having served the Fort Washington community for 30 years.
The landlord of the building that houses Associated is looking to force them out, bringing them to court for eviction so that they can bring in a Walgreens Pharmacy, even though there is the locally owned Hilltop pharmacy just next door. The meeting Tuesday will be an update on what efforts are underway to push back against the landlord's actions and to strategize around how to save Associated from closing. The meeting is in conjunction with Community Board 12, Public Advocate Letitia James, Comptroller Scott Stringer, Manhattan Borough President Gale Brewer, State Senator Adriano Espaillat, Assembly Member Denny Farrell and Council Member Mark Levine as well as the Hudson Heights Owners Coalition.
The hearing will be held at PS 187, 349 Cabrini Boulevard (between 187th and 190th Sts) at 7 PM. Please come out and lend your important voice to this effort as we work together to Save Our Store!

Este próximo martes, organizamos una audiencia pública sobre los esfuerzos para salvar al Supermercado Associated en Fort Washington y la calle 187 de tener que cerrar sus puertas. Este tema es de suma importancia, ya que éste es el único supermercado costeable en el área, habiendo servido por 30 años a la comunidad de Fort Washington.
El casero del edificio el cual aloja a Associated, está tratando de forzarles a salir de allí, llevándoles ante la corte para el desalojo, de manera que se pueda traer a Walgreens Pharmacy, no obstante a que la farmacia Hilltop de propiedad local está en la puerta de al lado. La reunión del martes será para actualizar sobre cuáles esfuerzos se estan llevando a cabo para retrasar las acciones del casero, y trazar una estrategia sobre cómo salvar a Associated de tener que cerrar sus puertas. La reunión se hace conjuntamente con la Junta Comunitaria 12, la Defensor Público Letitia James, el Contralor Scott Stringer, la presidenta del condado de Manhattan Gale Brewer, el Senador Adriano Espaillat, el Asambleísta Denny Farrell y el Concejal Mark Levine y el Hudson Heights Owners Coalition.
La audiencia se llevará a cabo en PS187, en el 349 de Cabrini Boulevard (entre las calles 187 y 190) a las 7PM. Por favor asista, y sea una importante voz ante este esfuerzo, mientras trabajamos unidos para Salvar a Nuestra Tienda!
