The Bostic Post Office is open for business and there are no plans to close the facility. Postmaster, Bob Breedon says, he's there everyday. Stop in and see Bob, it's probably a little lonely since the carriers are running out of Forest City.
Funday at Camp McCall on August 13th cleared $1,200. Yeah volunteers! The music was good, folks enjoyed the hiking, boating, swimming, and eating. I enjoyed two deliciouis hot dogs, all the way with slaw - yum. Ronnie Walker, Camp Manager said, "All in all, about 200 people stopped in. We did pretty good."

The Community Outreach at Washburn is open on Friday and Saturday. Pastor Laurie Knoespel reports:
The Washburn Community Outreach Center has a new Director! Mrs. Angie Leake volunteered to be the Director and it was truly an answer to prayer. Angie has always felt called to ministry at the Center, and with where she is in her life, she now has both the time and the resources to answer that call. Please come by the Center and meet Angie - she begins Thursday, September 15th.
A tremendous number of folks with a tremedous amount of need have walked through our doors over the past few months. We have given away so much food that our cupboards were almost bare. Thankfully we did receive very generous food donations from Ellenboro Elementary and we were awarded a FEMA grant which will help us to continue to help those in need.
And as always we are so thankful for the volunteers who give not only their time and energy and resources, but also their faith and compassion in ministering to our clients.
On October 1st from 9am - 2pm, as part of IMPACT Community Day with the United Methodist Church, we will be giving away all of our Summer clothes and shoes! (20 items per person) We hope that those who need clothes will take advantage of this opportunity as many of these clothes can be worn well into the Fall and Winter with layering and coats.

Fairview Mountain Ministries Ron Gurley shares an overview of the year:
33 different groups from all over NC & SC
1391 guests stayed with us
This spring we had a group of kids, His Little Feet, from Haiti stay with us. His Little Feet is an organization based in Colorado that works to help orphaned children all over the world. They have an international choir made up of orphaned children that tours the US to raise awareness of orphans. We were glad to have these young folks stay with us as they traveled from Charleston, SC and had a couple of days to rest before heading on to Virgina working their way back to Colorado.
