Upcoming Park & Ride,
Commuter Bus & Metro Connection Service Enhancements

June 27, 2018

Park & Ride Enhancement

Saint Andrews Lot Relocation to VRT Lot:

On July 16 the Saint Andrews Park & Ride Lot will close and relocate to the Virginia Regional Transit (VRT) Park & Ride Lot (412 Browning Court in Purcellville). The VRT Lot contains 80 parking spaces with flexibility to expand to 250 spaces should the need arise. This will help address capacity issues at the Harmony Park & Ride Lot and allow for the addition of new Metro Connection bus services from Purcellville to the Wiehle-Reston East Metro Station.

Note: The VRT Lot is temporary and will close when the planned 250 space Western Loudoun County (WLC) Park & Ride Lot is opened. Construction of the WLC Park & Ride is scheduled to begin in FY-23.

Long Haul Commuter Bus Enhancement

Harmony Park & Ride Lot:

Recently the Harmony Park & Ride Lot has struggled with capacity issues. Based on results of a commuter survey, and in order to relieve overcrowding at Harmony, two new Long Haul Commuter bus routes (407 & 415) to D.C. will be added from the VRT Lot in Purcellville beginning on July 16. While these routes will begin starting in Purcellville, they will continue to pick-up/drop-off passengers at the Harmony Lot. The addition of these two routes should alleviate capacity issues currently occurring at the Harmony Lot.

Metro Connection Bus Enhancements

Purcellville:

Based on new funding from the I-66 Commuter Choice Program, Loudoun will begin new Metro Connection bus service on September 1 from the VRT Lot in Purcellville, to the Wiehle-Reston East Metrorail Station. This new service will include three buses departing approximately every 25 minutes in the morning and the afternoon.

Stone Ridge Park & Ride and StoneSprings Hospital Bus Shelters:

Starting on July 16, new Metro Connection bus service will begin out of the Stone Ridge Park & Ride Lot and the two StoneSprings Hospital bus shelters. The current Route 88X will be extended to the Stone Ridge Lot and an additional bus will be added to keep buses running every 25-30 minutes.

As always, I will continue to keep you informed as additional updates become available.

All my best,
