Compass Insights
Indicators show Minnesota still grappling with pandemic fallout

Last year, our annual Compass Points report unveiled a concerning trend: Over 50% of our quality-of-life metrics were on a negative trajectory. In our latest analysis, although there are signs of improvement, Minnesota continues to grapple with the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic and its associated challenges. IT Analyst Megan Chmielewski provides a snapshot of key indicators from this year's report.

Advancing census data equity for Native American communities

APRIL 29, 12-1 pm

Census Equity Initiative and cosponsors—including Minnesotans for the American Community Survey— are hosting a virtual briefing to share information about the importance of decennial census and American Community Survey (ACS) data for American Indians and Alaska Natives (AIAN). Presenters will look at particular causes and implications of the persistent undercount, and growing concerns with the quality of data in the ACS when it comes to Native American communities. Experts will also discuss the Census Bureau operations and gaps in federal data collection and analysis, which undermines AIAN data equity. Advocates will discuss what they are doing to organize their communities and improve planning for the 2030 census and ACS operations

This virtual event is free, but advanced registration is required. Register here by April 24.
