Dear Parents,

The security, safety, and well-being of our students is of the utmost importance to us. Our morning drop off procedure will be changing effective Monday, October 3rd. In order to keep our hallways clear, we are asking that you drop off your 1st-8th grade child in the breezeway before the door of our main building. Doing this will ensure a calm and quiet atmosphere that our students deserve.

Cafeteria payments will now be made through the office. The Little Store will be open from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. and will be accessible to those who want to make a purchase. However, the Lost and Found will only be available to parents during the afternoon hours.

We always appreciate your support and understanding; but, most importantly, your trust in us and the policies we set in place to make our school "mejor, mejor, y mejor."

Thank you,

Sixth Grade Is Tough; It Helps To Be 'Top Dog'

"There's been a lot of research already supporting what's called the 'top dog/bottom dog' hypothesis...
One-third of sixth-graders in
6-12 schools reported that students threatened or bullied other students 'most or all of the time.'"

Junior Voice Mastery sings "Make Me a Channel of Your Peace", Directed by Loly Lopez

September 21st was the U.N. International Day of Peace. Peace Day provides an opportunity for all of humanity to come together, in spirit and in action, to forward the ideals of and conditions for peace. At CEA, every class, from our youngest learners in K3 to our most mature in 8th grade, dedicated time this month to discussing these ideals and conditions for peace and to creating something in honor of a more peaceful world.

 New School Video
On October 11-13th, we will be filming a new in-house school video at CEA. We ask that all students please come to school as neat and well-groomed as possible for the filming and be on their best behavior these days. The filming will include sports and Conservatory classes.
Parallel Parking at CEA
We understand that there are "rush hours" at CEA during arrival and dismissal time. However, the police department has notified us that no cars can block the sidewalk. For this reason, we ask you to please parallel park in our parking lot outside.
We are asking this to prevent you from getting a ticket or being towed.  We have also asked our security guards to please remind you of this.
Thank you for your understanding!

halloween1Halloween Celebrations
Halloween is just around the corner, and we're sure many of you are already looking for costumes for our Kinder through 5th graders.

Halloween is a time for fun and fantasy.  However, the costumes you choose for your child may send conflicting messages.  We support a non-violent society.  Therefore, please do not send your child to school with play weapons on Halloween (GI Joe guns, pirate swords, etc.) or wearing fake blood. There are a lot of fun exciting characters to be that do not reflect realistic acts of destruction.

Halloween celebrations will take place on
Monday, October 31st.

K - 5th grades will participate in our annual
Halloween Parade.

6th - 8th grades will have their
Halloween Dance from 12:00pm - 3:00pm.

More detailed information will be sent home later this month.

The last day to donate is  Tuesday, October 18th.

ItalyCEA Goes to Italy!

The CEA/CEC  Visual Arts and Choir Departments are planning a trip to Italy from
March 23 - April 1, 2017!

CEA has custom designed a once-in-a-lifetime educational opportunity for your children to get to know the culture, history, and art of Italy. This trip and the itinerary was put together with a lot of thought, bearing in mind the activities that your child's teachers believe they are prepared to experience and that will most benefit them academically, artistically, and personally.

Educational travel is very different from leisure travel or family vacations -that is what our summers and breaks are for. There is a reason our educational travel experiences take place during our school year. It is an investment in your child's future and in the values that form your child's life.

Seeing and experiencing real life in a hands-on way adds context, meaning, and challenge to their educational experience.

Educational travel broadens our awareness of others and sharpens self-awareness, as students have the chance to gather firsthand information about the world. Seeing different landscapes, experiencing the challenges of certain cultures, listening to the opinions of people in other countries provides a deeper level of mindfulness. Profound experiences give people a sense of place and purpose, and they cultivate lifelong values and priorities.

Invitation letters were sent home to students in
5th - 8th grades who have been actively involved in each department.

The deadline to register for this trip is
Monday, October 3rd.

For more detailed information about the trip and how to register, please reach out to
