Concordia Prep Music and Fine Arts News
This has been a big week for the Music and Art Departments at Concordia Prep. Last Friday, the middle school band and choir, under the direction of Mr. Dennis Mercer and Ms. Lauren Staehr, competed in the annual Hershey Park Band Festival. Both units received excellent ratings and the choir placed second. ( Photo right: the middle school choir poses with their trophy.) After their performances, they had a great time in Hershey Park. Last Tuesday was the annual Upper School Fine Arts Festival with both the upper school band and choir performing and upper school art show. Next Tuesday, May 15 at 7:15 pm is the Middle School Fine Arts Festival. Also, CPS student artwork is on display in the gallery at Ascension Lutheran Church during May and June. The show ends on June 29.

Last Monday, Ms. Melissa Weldon's American Law class visited the Circuit Court of Baltimore County. They met with Judge Michael J. Finifter to learn more about the judicial process.

Mrs. Julia Miller's Anatomy class visited the National Museum of Health and Medicine in Silver Spring yesterday. The museum has exhibits that teach about medical advancements from the civil war up to present day and how the military provides for the needs of injured military personnel and civilians. The students were able to hold plasticized organs and learned about rare diseases.
