March 24, 2017

Hi all,

I'm taking a mini-vacation this week - a short weekend jaunt to NYC. The weather doesn't look too good and I'm wondering why didn't we plan a trip a little further south? Oh well, we all know how great it is to get a little bit of a break from work. It feels good and makes us refreshed when we return to work. A good number of our locals will be off in the next few weeks for spring break (or maybe you're already back?). Whether it's a few days or a whole week, I hope you too return with a smile on your face and a new invigorated sense of purpose for the months ahead. Enjoy!

Peace
--Kathy Rohde

Should you receive an email request to fill out a survey about the Educator Effectiveness process, please do so. And be candid. It reads, in part,

"Dear Wisconsin Teacher,
As part of the official evaluation of the state of Wisconsin's Educator Evaluation, Development and Support Process, formerly known as Educator Effectiveness (EE), we are asking all Wisconsin classroom teachers to participate in a survey. We want to hear from you about how you are experiencing your school's evaluation system! This survey is designed to provide formative feedback to schools and districts about the effectiveness of their teacher evaluation and feedback process...

Best regards,

Attention Retirees

WEAC-Fox Valley Retired would like to extend an invitation to all WEAC-Retired members within the Region 3 geographical area to attend their spring meeting on April 26, starting at 1:00 p.m.

They will start off their meeting with presenter, Editor Bill Hurley, from the Wisconsin Education Association Council (WEAC). He will present a hands-on seminar on different uses of technology. He will cover Facebook and Twitter. He has some cool things to show you on Twitter. He will give you an idea of what SnapChat is all about. Bill will also cover some other interesting resources, including Scoop.it, Flipboard, Instagram and Pinterest. He will also share how people can use WEAC resources like email alerts to stay on top of education and politics in Wisconsin.

We ask that you bring an electronic device to practice with. It can be a laptop computer, a tablet, or a smartphone. Wi-Fi is available on campus so that all can connect to the Internet.

Following the presentation will be a short business meeting. Please see a separate document for the business meeting agenda. If you are not a WEAC-FV Retired member, you're welcome to the presentation, but ask that you not participate in the business portion of the meeting.

If you plan to attend, please RSVP to WEAC-Fox Valley Co-President, Kim Jordan, @ [email protected], to be sure there are enough handouts and chairs set up to accommodate attendees.
