Freedom Federal Credit Union

2015
Good Neighbor Award*

Located at 1830 Pulaski Highway, Freedom Federal Credit Union has been an integral part of the HdG financial community for 62 years. One of their primary goals is to give back to the community by supporting city groups such as the Chamber, the Little League, supporting city events and promoting education programs for both residents (ie. Lunch and Learn, Home Buyers and Sellers Seminars) and students (ie. High School financial education program).
The Chamber of Commerce and the City of HdG extend their sincere thanks to Freedom Federal for their decades of commitment to Havre de Grace and its residents.  Visit their website for more information.

*The criteria for this award: an organization that has done the most to make Havre de Grace a better place to live and work.  This may include support of educational or community initiatives, and enhancement of public services.

 Ameriprise Financial

2015
Regional Awareness Award*

Ameriprise Financial is known as the largest Financial Planning firm in the USA, and one of the top 25 Asset Managers in the world. Nationwide, they have over 2 million clients, with over $750 billion in assets under management and administration. Ranked #246 in the 2011 edition of the Fortune 500 List, they have over 10,000 financial advisors nationwide.

Backed by a strong company, Bronwyn Martin, with her 15 years experience in financial services, came to Havre de Grace to open her second business location.  She accomplished an extensive interior and exterior renovation of a building that had been vacant for 30 years on
N. Washington Street, thus helping to beautify our downtown business district.

Besides her extensive financial management experience and the strength of the company she represents, Bronwyn strongly supports  the City and the Chamber of Commerce, which makes her a great asset to the City on many fronts. Learn more on her  website.

The Chamber of Commerce and the City of HdG say thank you to  Bronwyn Martin for increasing the regional awareness of Havre de Grace and its business community.  We wish you much success in your new HdG location!

*The criteria for this award: an organization or business that has brought about the most significant increase in regional awareness of Havre de Grace as a tourist and visitor destination, or as a place for others to establish or expand a business.

                         River Dental

2015
Best Property Rehabilitation Award*

Dr. John E. Lufburrow and his family had a vision and thus began a rehabilitation journey at 415 Pennington Avenue which finished with a state of the art dental facility, an upscale interior and an exterior with an original look that complements  downtown HdG.  A second floor was added to the original building which now is the home of Lufburrow & Company, Inc., a technology engineering firm, owned by Dr. Lufburrow's son and daughter-in-law.

A dentist for 36 years, (and all those 36 years served in HdG), Dr. Lufburrow moved his practice from Green Street to the new facility on Pennington Avenue to continue serving his patients with his associate Dr. Ross Stauffer. Visit their  website  to see the renovation results and learn about the dental facilities.

The Chamber of Commerce and the City of Havre de Grace thank Drs. Lufburrow and Stauffer and their families for their service to their patients and clients and the City. Their investment in this renovated building is beautiful and highly appreciated by everyone. Thank you again and Congratulations!

*The criteria for this award: The most significant improvement in property value, appearance, neighborhood pride and public/private use, the end result of which is most likely to foster other capital improvements in the same area.

Vincenti Decoys

2015
Business
of the
Year Award*

Patrick Vincenti has been carving decoys since 1986, learning the craft from Havre de Grace legends and masters. In 1994 he opened the Havre de Grace store with his partner and wife Jeannie. Together they have built a business with many recognitions to its name: their products are shipped throughout USA and worldwide, they have been published in several books, and have lectured at the Smithsonian. Two of Pat's carvings have been featured on Maryland Waterfowl stamps, and Good Morning America did a feature segment on them.

The Vincenti's hearts are in Havre de Grace and show their love for HdG in many ways by supporting the Chamber of Commerce, our  public safety operations, our museums and  school programs. They  consistently work to promote HdG and put it on the map.

The Chamber of Commerce and the City of HdG congratulate Vincenti Decoys for being the 2015 Business of the Year, and thank them for their craftsmanship, business excellence and dedication to their hometown.

*The criteria for this award: the business that has most significantly increased its level of business activity or sets itself apart or sets an example for excellence in business.

Havre de Grace Dance Program

2015
Special Recognition Award*

Terry Glenn asked about dance programs in town 25 years ago. There were none, and she was asked if she wanted to start one.  She said "yes" and the Havre de Grace Dance Program was born!  Beginning with 15 students, the program now instructs the maximum enrollment of over 240 students, with an annual recital that now runs for two days with people waiting in admission lines for hours. Their community service, dedication and love of dance is contagious. Former students are now instructors who now bring their own children.  Good programs like this one are very, very special.
Learn more by visiting their  website!

Thank you to Terry Glenn and all the Havre de Grace Dance Program instructors for your vision, for your dedication & tireless work with all the students, and for your 25 years of service to the  Havre de Grace community!

* A special award given this year on the 25th Anniversary of the  Dance Program, a special recognition in a class by itself.
