BOARDBOARD MEETING

Board Meeting on Tuesday, March 27th
at 6:15 pm
Taanit Ontheroad TA'ANIT BEKHORIM SIYYUM
Ta'anit Bekhorim Siyyum

On Friday, March 30th, all first born males should observe a fast from sunrise until the seder as a way of recognizing that as a cost to our ancestors' freedom, the firstborn sons of the Egyptians were killed while ours were saved during the tenth and final plague.

The custom has arisen to hold a celebratory siyyum (celebration in honor of the completion of a section of Jewish text) on the day of this fast, thereby exempting those attending from the fast.  Accordingly, as Rabbi Henkin concludes his study of the Mishnah tractate Kinim, we will be holding a siyyum after morning minyan on Friday, March 30th.  All are invited to join, in particular those who would be fasting on that day.  Breakfast will be served.  Please let the main office know if you are planning to attend by emailing [email protected] or calling 352-4737.
WHATDOESWHAT DOES ISRAEL MEAN TO YOU?

At JEA's upcoming Israel@70 celebration, AA will be sponsoring a Kotel and we need your help!  Everyone is invited  on Sunday, April 8th from 4:30 - 5:30 pm to bring a shoe box lid or empty clean pizza box to turn into a "stone" for the Kotel, which will be decorated with the answer to the question "What does Israel mean to you?"  Children are welcome, snacks and drinks will be provided.  The "stones" will be collected and assembled at the JEA for Israel@70 on Thursday, April 19.

Can't make it on the 8th but want to make a stone? Decorate your own shoe box lid or pizza box top/bottom, and bring it to the AA and it will be included in the Kotel. Please be sure to first wrap your lid in some sort of cream/tan/or even white colored paper for a more consistent Jerusalem stone look.  Please contact Tova Tolman at  [email protected] if you have any questions.
