TORAH PORTION

Eikev [And if You] Obey [These Rules]
Deuteronomy 7:12-11:25

And if you do obey these rules and observe them carefully,
the Eternal your God will maintain faithfully for you the covenant
made on oath with your fathers. - Deuteronomy 7:12

SUMMARY:
  • Moses tells the Israelites that if they follow God's laws,
the nations who now dwell across the Jordan River will not
    harm them. (7:12-26)
  • Moses reminds the people of the virtues of keeping God's commandments. He also tells them that they will dispossess
those who now live in the Land only because they are idolatrous, not because the Israelites are uncommonly virtuous. Thereupon, Moses reviews all of the trespasses of the Israelites against God. (8:1-10:11)
  • Moses says that the Land of Israel will overflow with milk and honey if the people obey God's commandments and teach
    them to their children. (10:12-11:25)

Shabbat Candle Lighti ng  8:19 p m on Friday, August 3, 2018

This is a very busy weekend at CNT. The weekend starts on Friday with a Brown Bag Dine and Discuss dinner with Rabbi at 6:15 PM.
I encourage you to attend.

Sunday morning it is back to school. You can find information about the first day by going to our web page - mynertamid.org - and clicking on the apple. This is always an exciting day at school with everyone there, including the Rabbi, to talk with parents and children. We are always looking for new students for our school. If you know any families who are interested, please have them contact our principal, Elaine Gutenstein at gutensteinelaine@gmail.com.

Following Religious School there will be a Picnic in the Park at the large pavilion at Laurel Park (151 Manning Rd. Marietta, GA 30060). There will be hot dogs (Kosher of course), sides, desserts and drinks. Bring your sports equipment. The Rabbi, Membership and Board members will be there to talk to anyone interested learning about CNT and what we have to offer, so please bring your friends. It will be a fun time for the entire family.

Look forward to seeing you this weekend.

DINE AND DISCUSS WITH RABBI PRASS
Looking Inward: Orienting Ourselves for the High Holy Days
Friday, August 3 @ 6:15 pm
Judaism says we should use the month before Rosh Hashanah to prepare for the Holiday. What does Judaism say about how we should prepare ourselves and examine our action in the past year leading into the High Holy Days? Come and discuss traditional and modern Jewish texts that give us insight and challenge us to look at our behavior now and in the future.
Bring a kosher-style brown bag meal for yourself, water provided.
Discussion begins at 6:30.

Welcome Back Shabbat

Join us as we celebrate the start of another exciting year of
CNT Religious School. We're looking forward to seeing you after the relaxing summer break. All students are welcome to participate in the service. Click HERE for the Oneg Sign-Up Genius!
