These are the names of the sons of Israel who came to Egypt with Jacob,
each coming with his household: Reuben, Simeon, Levi, and Judah;
Issachar, Zebulun, and Benjamin; Dan and Naphtali, Gad and Asher.
Exodus 1:1-4

SUMMARY:
  • The new king of Egypt makes slaves of the Hebrews and orders their male children to be drowned in the Nile River. (1:1-22)
  • A Levite woman places her son, Moses, in a basket on the Nile, where he is found by the daughter of Pharaoh and raised in Pharaoh's house. (2:1-10)

HAPPY 20 CHAI!!

It is a new calendar year with a new CNT Board of Directors. To celebrate, this Friday the Board will host a special installation service led by the Rabbi. We met earlier this week to discuss 2017 and plan for 2018.

2017 was a good year for us. We implemented the EPIC philosophy which we have seen success. We had amazing Engagement with our Annual Meeting, Town Hall, Passover Seder, Back to School picnic, Simchat Torah, and Chanukah Pot Luck dinner. We continue to work on our Processes starting with an inventory of everything we have. We Included the community with our Scout Shabbat and Menorah Lighting on the Marietta Square. There has been a review of all the CNT policies to make sure they are complete and Consistent.

We did have a few things that did not work out. Our plan to move into part of the space next door fell through when our neighbors who were using the back part of the space left. Our membership numbers continue to remain static with as many joining as leaving. Both of these we plan to address in 2018.

Our meeting was productive with decisions to focus on three main concerns - Member Retention, Communications and Space.

We are looking to get more members emotionally involved with CNT. We want this to be more than a place to get your children B'nei Mitzvahed. Over the next few weeks we will be asking for volunteers for committees that need help. We want CNT to really be your second family.

Our communications, while improving, still have a way to go. The Communications Committee, led by Wendy Meyer and Johanna Kohler, will be meeting this weekend after Religious School to brainstorm on how to update our newsletter, website and use of Social Media to better serve the congregation's needs. If you are interested, please join them at noon on Sunday to share your insights and opinions or e-mail Communications@mynertamid.org.

Then there is SPACE the final frontier. We have 18 months remaining on our current lease and need to decide if we stay
where we are, expand next door, rent somewhere else or own a location. A committee is being formed with a member of each of the other committee to come up with assessments for each of the four possibilities. If you are interested on serving on that committee, please e-mail the Board at
BoardofDirectors@mynertamid.org.

See you Friday night.

President
