Connected Through Adoption:
Tween/Teen Edition
Mondays in January 2015

Four weeks. All adoptees. Safe space.

Connected Through Adoption is a one hour workshop for four weeks presented by Adoption Wellness; encouraging adoption exploration in a safe space and supported by an adoption competent clinician and transracial adult adoptee.

This four-week workshop was developed by and for adoptees.

The tween/teen years can be a critical period for any youth with regard to developmental milestones, emotional exploration and identity formation. For the adopted person, the additional complexities may add to the stress of everyday life. Each week, we will
explore age appropriate topics that include:

✔talking about our adoption story

✔how to deal with race and ethnic stereotypes
✔managing intrusive questions

✔ birth family curiosity
✔coping with feelings of abandonment and understanding how they impact our relationships with others

Four consecutive Mondays, January 5, 12, 19 and 26.

Participants are strongly encouraged to attend all four workshops to build and foster relationships that will last a lifetime.

Workshops begin promptly at 6:00 and end at 7:00pm.

Tweens and teens are generally between the ages of 10 and 17. Exceptions will be considered based on the child's emotional development and maturity level. Due to the uniqueness of each individual's level of comfort, we limit our groups to eight attendees.

Cost: $200 for the four-week session.

The cost includes healthy snacks and all materials.
