Connecting FUMC ministries with the needs of the world is a mission priority for our congregation. Thanks to the generosity of this congregation, early in 2016 our Mission Team was able to distribute nearly $23,000 to local groups. We hope to generously support a variety of ministries again next year. That support will come from the special mission offerings collected on Easter 2016, Christmas 2016 and this Sunday, August 14. Please give generously via the special envelope in this week's bulletin or electronically (please include a note that your special gift should be designated for Mission Giving). Thank you for supporting wide-reaching ministries that are consistent with the mission and vision of FUMC. 

The Food for Thought Initiative is partnering with schools in Madison to open school-based food pantries. Using backpacks reduces the stigma some students feel about needing food, allowing them to carry food home to their families without peers knowing. On our two "Backpack Sundays" please bring new or gently used backpacks suitable for high school students to the church and place in the receptacle in the Octagon.
