Community Banks Take On Megabanks
| Small-town bankers across the country are fighting back against the megabanks. Community banks and credit unions in 20 cities are giving away $80,000 worth of gasoline to energize consumers to "Take Back Your Banking" from the megabanks. The goal of "Take Back Your Banking" is to raise awareness about mistreatment from the megabanks and to show consumers that there is a better way to bank. View the video>> |

| Mobile and Online Banking Interest Is High, Even Among Older Consumers | | Internet-enabled mobile devices are more commonplace than ever for Americans, according to a nationwide survey, with just under half (49 percent) saying they own a smartphone or tablet. The majority of those owners (64 percent) use their mobile device to manage their finances. Younger Americans, ages 18 to 34, are more likely to use online or mobile banking, with 81 percent of computer owners saying they manage their finances on a computer and a majority (72 percent) of mobile device owners saying they bank on their mobile devices. | FDIC Updates Stress Testing Implementation Timeline for Large Banks | | The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation has announced it is considering changes to the implementation timeline for the annual capital-adequacy stress tests required by section 165(i)(2) of the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act. The changes under consideration would delay implementation until September 2013 for covered institutions with total consolidated assets between $10 billion and $50 billion. Read more>> |
