Camp is just around the corner
|
 Slowly but surely, spring has arrived
There are only a few weeks left until summer camp begins! Our name may be new but our mission is still the same - to provide life-changing experiences and adventures. There is still time to sign up! We invite you to be part of our exciting programs. We have some old favorites along with several new options. Read about them on our What's New page! |
Spring is a busy time as we prepare for summer camp sessions, continue our respite weekends and host several conference and retreat groups. The snow has melted and the first signs of spring are finally starting to emerge around camp.

| Amazing Adventures with Ventures Travel |
 This is our friend and traveler James, at right. He recently crossed another adventure off his bucket list! James called and said his next dream was to swim with sharks. Using the custom trip planning program at Ventures Travel, and with the help of our adventurous staff member Erin, we made it happen. We are thrilled to have helped James with this adventure and the smile on his face is priceless. |
Presidential Volunteer Service Award
True Friends is a certifying organization for the President's Volunteer Service Award. The President's Council on Service and Civic Participation established the award program as a way to thank and honor U.S. citizens and legal permanent residents who, by their demonstrated commitment and example, inspire others to engage in volunteer service.
Eligibility for the PVSA - Gold Level includes:
Young Adults: 250 hours or more
Adults: 500 hours or more
Family & Groups: 1000 hours or more

"Express Yourself" Style Show, co-sponsored by All Things Good of Annandale and A Wreath of Franklin of Buffalo, will be 2-4 p.m. Saturday, May 10 at Classic Hall in Annandale. Ticket proceeds benefit True Friends and can be purchased at either store. Birch Island Plant Sale - Picha Farms of Eden Prairie will be hosting a plant sale which runs May 7-May 18. Hours are 12 to 7 p.m. on weekdays and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on  weekends. A great selection of annuals, perennials, vegetables, trees and shrubs will beoffered at near wholesale prices. Proceeds from the sale will benefit True Friends. Camp Friendship celebrates its 50th Anniversary this year! There will be a party held on September 7. All are welcome! Look for updates in future letters.

It takes a team effort to create a great experience for our campers. Camp Eden Wood has two part-time openings in our housekeeping and maintenance areas. If you know someone who's great at cleaning, point them to our website for more details.

...Help us serve more children and adults with disabilities!
Western National Insurance Group, located in Bloomington, donated another vehicle to True Friends... the 2011 Toyota Sienna is their NINTH vehicle donation (mostly mini vans) since 2007! The value of their in-kind gifts has exceeded $100,000...the money we save by not having to lease or buy vans for our program can now be used to help us serve and support even more children and adults with disabilities.
