Our mission at the Connie Hudson Senior Center is to provide the highest quality of recreational, educational, health, and wellness programs for individuals 55 and older.

Are you ready for some football? We are! Can you believe that we are already in month #9? WOW! Our Senior Center is thriving like never before, with new members continuing to enjoy the fellowship and classes, and inactive members coming back to us.  We are so impressed with your response to the new programs added to our weekly schedule.    As always, your input is welcomed on the First Thursday of each month beginning at 2:00 p.m. for "Coffee with the Director." Let this time be to ask questions, to make suggestions, or to just chat about the Senior Center.  Be sure to stay up-to-date with weekly schedule changes on our Like us on Facebook page.

*Special Note: We want to give back to our seniors here at CHMRSCC. On September 3 our staff, along with our Director, will show random acts of kindness (RAK) for Positive Aging Day!

From the Director:
Words cannot express the gratitude I have for each and everyone of the members and staff who participated in the surprise baby shower for our special little girl that is on her way.  I treasure each single person who helped make our day extra special.  Thank you so much for participating and showering my family with love!

Love and Thanks,
Ashley-Nicole

August 2015 Highlights

Recap of August

Art Display for the Month of August 2015
The art classes are filled with a diverse group of artists from different backgrounds, with many life experiences; all of them with varying abilities, styles, and techniques. The seniors use this time in our class for their enjoyment as a break from reality as well as to fellowship with their fellow artists. It has been a pleasure observing their talents and the results of their creativity, time, and hard work. Hope our senior members and guests had an opportunity to enjoy the beautiful artwork of all our talented artists!

Dianne Scott

Dianne has been participating in the art classes at our center for over 5 years. We are so proud of Dianne and the way she has handled her battle with caner.  Diane such a joy to be around.  Dianne has been painting with oils and acrylics for 20+ years, and she uses art as her outlet for creativity and a time of fellowship.
We are blessed to have her here!

Vickie Manley
Vickie is a retired art teacher from St. Louis Missouri. Vickie and her husband Jim moved to Mobile in 2014. She taught high school art for 25 years; her teachings included ceramics as well as Intro to Art. Vickie normally uses a variety of mediums and techniques, but recently decided to try the method of Pencil OMS with this new method Vickie has created many beautiful compositions. She is a big help in the classroom and she is so much fun to be around! We are thankful she moved down South to be with her family!

Social Security celebrated their 80th Birthday @ CHMRSCC.

What CHMRSCC can do for YOU?
Meet: Kendra  Butler
Member Since:  December 2014
Her Story:  Kendra joined the Senior Center in order to have an outlet for exercising, and to meet new people. Her desire was to make changes to her daily lifestyle. Since joining and being active in the Senior Center's exercise programs, Kendra has been able to eliminate 2 of her current medications, and her goal is to eliminate 2 more of her medications by the Fall of this year . Kendra has lost around 15-20 pounds; she participates in the Body Sculpting classes held twice a week, and she speaks of the instructors as being caring and encouraging to all that take part in the class. The instructors encourage attendees to give their all, using hard work with safety as the number #1 goal. The instructors are also available for any advice on alternative exercises that focus on the same muscle groups in order to attain the desired fitness goals with a lower impact on the body.
