Question: With hurricane seating getting busy, is there any preventative maintenance required to ensure proper operation of hurricane shutters?

Mike's Reply:

Absolutely! All hurricane shutters should be periodically checked and operated in order to make sure that they will correctly perform during times of severe weather.

First, it is a good idea to perform an inventory for all necessary parts such as wing-nuts which are necessary for installation of some shutter systems. Additionally, moving parts should be inspected and lubricated as needed.

Quite often, all the preventative maintenance that is required is a thorough cleaning of the shutter track or a spray of lubrication.
