Is Macon-Bibb becoming the next best place in GA to make a film? The biggest names in the business are coming here to make films.  We've decided to get behind the camera too--guess who's vlogging? Internationally, Instagram usage has spiked; we hit an Instagram milestone too.  It's Cap and Gown season in Macon-Bibb--congratulations Class of 2017!

The Authority Network

We've added a new section to the Media Center on our website, The Authority Network.  The Authority Network  is our new broadcasting platform. Videos, podcasts, and briefings can be found on the network and there is more to come as we build the platform.

The response to our video "Why the Star Snacks LLC Story Matters" was HUGE and our Facebook LIVE sessions receive great response from the community too.  This is a new frontier for economic developers so we are eager to building great content on the network.   Our first feature program is called, " Chair Chats".   Our Chairman of the Board, Cliffard Whitby and Vice Chair/Chair of the Properties Committee, Robbie Fountain are very passionate about the MBCIA's work, they will share debriefs, upcoming MBCIA news/announcements, and other noteworthy topics.

Click here to The Authority Network page and/or click below to watch the first episode of "Chair Chats".  Feel free to comment, ask a question, or share the page.  Click on the arrow below to watch the video.

Taking Notice

Last week, we received some recognition and hit a new social media milestone.  It's good to see other agencies "taking notice" of our work. Read more below.

Economic Development Week 2017
So while we were celebrating #EconDevWeek2017 last week, the IEDC took notice of our work.  The IEDC (International Economic Development Council) is a non-profit, non-partisan membership organization serving economic developers. With more than 5,000 members, the IEDC is the not only the largest organization of its kind but they are the industry standard in training, data, and thought leadership in economic development. Last Thursday, they requested to repost our #TBT Instagram post and share our newsletter edition too.  They are just beginning to use Instagram. See their request below and visit their page to see our repost.

From the Constant Contact Team, "Last year, your outreach and engagement with your audience was exemplary. Stellar. Your customers noticed and responded positively. And we noticed, too. So we are thrilled to name you to our roster of 2016 All Stars!
This annual designation is something that only 10% of Constant Contact customers receive for their excellence in building better customer relationships.  Relationships matter to us at Constant Contact. Thanks for making yours count. Congratulations again, and we hope you have another great year in 2017."  They will be forwarding an official press release and media package to help us spread the word about this award.   THANKS to all of you, our email subscribers!

We're having a Blockbuster Year in film in Macon-Bibb! Some of the top movie stars in the industry are filming here this year. This past weekend, Dewayne "The Rock" Johnson was on location at the Middle GA Regional Airport filming an action thriller based on an 80s video game #RAMPAGE.  Here are a few pictures from his Instagram account (YES--we started following The Rock as soon as we heard he was coming to Macon-Bibb).

Cookie is coming to town!  Taraji P. Henson, award winning actress of the hit drama "Empire" and the blockbuster film "Hidden Figures" will be on location in Macon-Bibb to film a new movie.  Casting call happens this Saturday on May 21st.
The star of TV show "Empire" and movie "Hidden Figures" will be in Macon as part of the cast of civil rights drama  "The Best of Enemies ." The movie details the segregation of North Carolina public schools in the 1960s.   The Macon-Bibb County Government Center on Poplar Street, formerly the Macon City Hall, will be the site of demonstrations and a meeting place for the film. Filming takes  place June 8th-9th but the casting call for this film happens this Saturday May 21st.
