KELSEA BALLERINI TO MAKE DEBUT PERFORMANCE ON LIVE WITH KELLY AND MICHAEL

Black River Entertainment's Kelsea Ballerini will make her debut performance on LIVE with Kelly and Michael this Thursday (5/12) with her skyrocketing single "Peter Pan," which launched into the Top 30 at country radio this week. Written by Ballerini, Jesse Lee and Forest Glen Whitehead, "Peter Pan"  reveals a deeper side to the breakout artist and is the third single released from her critically acclaimed debut THE FIRST TIME.
Racking up the accolades, she recently earned her first-ever ACM Award win for 2016 New Female Vocalist of the Year, the fan-voted Radio Disney Music Award for The Freshest - Best New Artist (all genre) and the American Country Countdown Award (ACCA) for Breakthrough Female of the Year. On Monday Ballerini earned a CMT Music Award nomination for Female Video of the Year for the playful #1 smash "Dibs." The fan-voted award show will air live from Nashville on Wednesday, June 8 at 8 p.m. ET. Voting is now open on CMT.com and will continue through June 6 at 12:01 a.m. ET.
This shows that with the right songs, talent and great production an indie artist can breakthrough and top the charts.

TEBEY
"LIGHTWEIGHT"

"Lightweight" is the lead single from Tebey's forthcoming album After Midnight; due June 24. The song came together in a flash while collaborating with Cole Taylor and Sam Ellis in a Nashville studio. "As a songwriter I really like to take my time, especially when crafting the melody and the lyrics, " says Tebey, "but we started really late in the day and wrote it in two hours. Everything just clicked immediately."

The quick brilliance of the catchy song is undeniable, and it draws from a Tebey's influences outside of the country world, bringing in a unique Usher-style R&B flair to the track.
Recently, Tebey was nominated for 6 CMAO Awards - Single Of The Year, Songwriter Of The Year, Male Artist, Music Video Of The Year, Record Producer Of The Year, and the Fan's Choice Award. Tebey will be performing at the CMAO Award Gala on May 30.
Tebey has many accolades to date. His cover of "Wake Me Up" was the most spun CanCon Country song of 2014 on Nielsen BDS, reached the Top 5 both on radio and on the iTunes Country Sales Chart, and was added to Sirius XM "The Highway" station in the US. Earlier singles,"Let It Down" and "Till It's Gone," were huge hits on Canadian Country radio, and his track "Somewhere In The Country" was the #1 most played Canadian Country single of 2013 - Top 10 overall. His last two singles "When The Buzz Wears Off", and "Jealous Of The Sun" made the Top 20 on Canadian Country Radio.

In addition to his vast radio success, Tebey is also a seasoned award winner. He took home a Country Music Association of Ontario Award, was nominated for the CCMA Award for Record Producer of the Year with Jason Barry for debut album THE WAIT, performed live on the 2013 Canadian Country Music Awards national broadcast, and was nominated for both a Canadian Music Week "Heatseeker Award" and 2013 CCMA Rising Star of The Year Award.

THE ROAD TO LONDON IS COMING FAST!

If you are working in the country music industry in Canada you need to become a member of the CCMA. There are many rewards. It's too late to join for you to vote this year but it is an important association that you need to join. Also make sure you have the budget to attend the 2016 CCMA Music Week in September.

Each year, the Canadian Country Music Association (CCMA) honours its members who have excelled during the past year, with a Canadian Country Music Association Award. CCMA Awards are presented each fall during Country Music Week. Click  here to view the Rules & Regulations for the CCMA Awards Program.

The CCMA Awards are voted upon by the membership* in a three stage ballot process; during the first of which, potential Candidates who have released product within the eligibility period and meet the criteria outlined in the Rules & Regulations, are brought forward for consideration and nominated by the voting membership through a 'write-in' ballot. The Second Ballot presents the top ten eligible contenders, as verified by the Awards and Balloting Committee, who have received the most votes in each category to be voted upon for the Third (and final) Ballot, which contains the top five contenders in each category, who become the final five nominees.

Only CCMA Members who have renewed before April 30 may vote; this process does not apply to Fans' Choice, Top Selling Album of the Year, Top Selling Canadian Album of the Year, and Top Selling Canadian Single of the Year, all of which have their own unique selection process (see  2016 Rules & Regulations for details).

CMA RESEARCH SHOWS COUNTRY MUSIC CONSUMERS SPEND MORE ON MUSIC

New CMA research has shown that Country Music fans, on average, spend more on music than fans of any other genre. The findings were presented Tuesday during the second of three webinars presenting CMA's extensive consumer research initiative: "Understanding Today's Shifting Consumer Landscape and Changing Country Music Audiences, Music Choices, and Behaviors."

The latest webinar, titled "New Ownership Beliefs and Music Spending Profiles," revealed more Country Music fans spend on music than fans of other genres.  Seventy-seven percent of Country Music fans had purchased music products and services in the past six to twelve months - a level higher than other genre audiences, which saw an average of 71 percent audience spending.

"This research has shown us the many ways consumer behavior patterns are shifting and changing," said Karen Stump, CMA Senior Director of Market Research. "These latest statistics show Country Music fans are not only consuming music, but they are still spending each year on music, downloads, concerts, and more."

Country Music consumers spend an average of $392* annually; however when the demographic data within the Country Music consumer subgroups is examined, that number jumps to $472* amongst non-white listeners, who are more likely to spend on concerts, festivals, and digital music. Gen X Country Music fans spend an annual average of $456*.

Examining the consumption of these emerging fans amongst Millennial and non-white consumers, research showed that radio is still the most used medium for listening overall. Fifty-two percent of Millennials use streaming services daily to consume music, while 41 percent listen to radio daily. Forty-five percent of non-white fans use streaming services daily, and both groups utilize YouTube at a higher rate than consumers overall.

It is also important to note that seven percent of daily listeners access each and all surveyed platforms (radio, streaming services, YouTube, digital downloads, and physical CDs) daily to consume Country Music. Millennials and non-white fans are even more likely to be engaged with all platforms on a daily basis (11 percent and 13 percent, respectively).

In a webinar presented exclusively to CMA members May 3 ("Tomorrow's Music Consumer and Emerging Behaviors"), research showed the Country Music audience continues to gain popularity across the board with the fastest growth in listeners occurring among non-whites, Hispanics, and Millennials.

The data reported in this summary is from CMA's proprietary consumer study, which was conducted among 3,330 adult consumers across the U.S. during October 2015. The study was conducted by a third-party research partner, The Futures Company. CMA Research is conducted on behalf of and provided exclusive to CMA members.
