Whose Streets?

This film explores the 2014 unrest in Ferguson after the death of Michael Brown. Images captured by cell phone cameras, print and TV photojournalists and documentary filmmakers show the racial tension, grief and rage of residents as they confront police and national guard officers armed with military weapons.

Join us this Sunday, the second Sunday of Lent,
for Traditional Worship at 9:30am and/or Informal Worship at 11:00am where our scripture lessons will be Psalm 22:23-31; and Genesis 17:1-7, 15-16 with a sermon entitled From Lovers to Fools with our Ears. What Bible stories from the Hebrew Bible do you think may have been important and influential to Jesus as he was growing up? As you look at your life and the life of our faith community, what stories of the Hebrew Bible and the Gospels shine through?
We will light our Lenten candles and hear about Heifer Project, one of our 2nd Mile Lent/Easter mission partners.
We also welcome new members at our 9:30 service.
The Sustainability Seekers are selling coffee and chocolate again
after both services. Profits go towards fund raising towards a dishwasher and mugs for the coffee hour. Even if you don't need anything this week, please stop by their table to let them know your preferences for future orders.
Sing with us Sunday at noonish!
The Core Music Project Team has been at work for many moons-whistling while we work...meandering through melodies, humming harmonies, looking at lyrics, mindful of memories, daring to dream. Please join us for a light lunch and lots of singing on Sunday, February 25th at noon. We will share some of our process and progress with you. We're eager to share this with you and to hear your voice!

What high school did you attend? Not Just for Men will be visiting the Missouri History Museum to tour Reflections, a permanent display on the second floor. The display is in two parts visiting the older aspects of St. Louis history on one side and more recent elements of Saint Louis life on the other side. CANstruction "field trip" 3/11

CANstruction is a mural created with canned goods to create an image of interfaith cooperation. This mural is assembled by local high school teens (including some PUCCers) representing, Jewish, Christian, Muslim and Hindu faiths. Youth rotate through stations that include mural assembly, team building skills (led by Saint Louis Science Center's YES teens), and interfaith interaction. As part of the interfaith interaction, teens are asked to bring quotes from their sacred text around shared values concepts.
"Beyond Ourselves" is the theme for this year's CANstruction, drawing inspiration from a new statue outside of the Planetarium of a figure of a person looking up, inspiring us to think of what is beyond. This year will mark the fifth year of a partnership between The Saint Louis Science Center,
The Center for Indian Cultural Education- Bal Vihar, and Interfaith Quest to create an interfaith CANstruction.
Teens will lead us through exploring what the represented sacred texts say about thinking "Beyond Ourselves," and how they were impacted in the sharing of each others sacred texts. The CANstruction will be on display through the month of March, then all canned goods used in the mural will be donated to Operation Food Search.
PUCC is taking a "field trip" to see the completed CANstruction mural and a video about the collaborative process. On Sunday, March 11, we will meet at the bridge of the Saint Louis Science Center at 2:00pm for our interfaith tour. Enter on the Planetarium side. The tour will be led by Beth Damsgaard-Rodriguez of Interfaith Quest.
