Governor Cuomo Announces Opening of Taste NY Market at Todd Hill Rest Area on Taconic State Parkway.
The State Department of Agriculture and Markets, the Department of Transportation and the Office of General Services partnered with Cornell Cooperative Extension Dutchess County to create the unique Taste NY experience on the Parkway with a wide variety of regional and New York State foods, beverages and agricultural products represented by at least 15 different agricultural producers at any given time.

Highlighted Event: Planning for Sea Level Rise: Resources for Hudson River Communities: Thursday, July 24, 2014: 6 - 8 pm, Orange County Community College, 1 Washington Center, Kaplan Hall, Great Room, Newburgh, NY 12550. Presented by: Jason Winner, Conservation GIS Manager, Scenic Hudson, Inc. and Nava Tabak, Conservation Scientist, Scenic Hudson, Inc. This seminar presents tools and resources that Hudson River communities can use to plan for predicted sea level rise scenarios over the next century. Free and open to the public, but please register in advance at: www.sealevelrisemapper.eventbrite.com. Offered in partnership with Scenic Hudson, Inc. and Orange County Department of Planning, and as part of CCE's Hudson Estuary Watershed Resiliency Project in partnership with NYS Water Resources Institute at Cornell University and NYSDEC Hudson River Estuary Program, with support from NYS Environmental Protection Fund.

DEC's Outdoor Tip of the Month: Fire safety - When building campfires, locate them away from overhanging branches, steep slopes, rotten stumps, logs, dry grass and leaves; and make sure extra wood is away from fire sites.

EPA Resources:

The ENERGY STAR Current: blog.epa.gov/energystar

This EPA blog provides ways to save money on energy bills, how to weatherize your home and more on the ENERGY STAR programs and rating. Highlights include: Find tips on how to keep your home cool this summer, while saving money here - or sign up for CCE's Save Energy, Save Dollars workshops for more on energy savings.

 

DOE Resources:

State and Local Energy Data (SLED) Tool: This online tool provides state and local energy data. The DOE Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE), with help from the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), created this tool which provides location-specific energy data that can be used for community energy planning. Users can compare their electricity prices to state and national averages, learn about clean energy project state policies and incentives, find renewable energy resources, and more: apps1.eere.energy.gov/sled/#/ 

Environmental Notice Bulletins

Environmental Notice Bulletins include SEQR and related notices, SPDES renewals, and completed DEC applications, as well as other related environmental notices for the county of Dutchess.

 

SPDES (State Pollutant Discharge Elimination System) - The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYS DEC) receives applications to renew permits for SPDES. Under SPDES, the DEC can control wastewater and stormwater discharges in compliance with the Clean Water Act.
