AFT Gives Preliminary Endorsement!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We are excited to announce that the Executive Committee of the  American Federation of Teachers (AFT) has given Save Our Schools March a preliminary endorsement pending the May 18-19 meeting of its Executive Council. Al Davidoff, Randi Weingarten's Chief of Staff, has offered to attend the weekly meetings of the SOS March Organizing Committee. Al joined us for the first time on April 17 and contributed to  a very productive meeting. Welcome, Al. We look forward to working with you, and we look forward to the Executive Council's decision in May.
One More Endorsement!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Another huge endorsement! We found out today that the IRA, the International Reading Association is endorsing us! The mission of the IRA is to continuously advance the quality of literacy instruction and research worldwide. Today, Tuesday, April 19 you can join the IRA in a webinar on

Funding and Reauthorization of ESEA. You can choose between the 2 p.m. Eastern or  8 p.m. Eastern session. To register, see the IRA link below.

It's Urgent!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It's almost May. School will be shutting down soon. We have only a little time to reach teachers and parents to let them know about our July 30 March in DC and our grassroots movement to take back and our schools and put into place REAL reform. But we need your help! We cannot do this without you.
Look below and you will see a "to do" list. Go to the link "Flyer" under Quick Links below. Print it off and then look at the "to do" list to find out how you can help. If your state has an Information Coordinator (see below) get in touch by clicking your state on the map. Info Coordinators need volunteers to help them with public relations and advocacy. The time is now! This movement belongs to you. Only by working together and speaking with ONE VOICE can we accomplish what's best for kids.
