The mission of Corpus Christi Catholic School is to nurture every child by providing the opportunities to grow in faith, achieve academic success, and serve others as disciples of Jesus
Dear Parents,

What a fun day we had last Friday afternoon. Our cheerleaders treated us to a fall sports pep rally. It was great to see so much Cougar spirit! I challenge all of our students participating in CYO sports to model good sportsmanship and play with integrity. Go Cougars!

Tomorrow we will celebrate Grandparents Day! It is truly one of the happiest days of the year where our students get to proudly entertain, thank and celebrate the love of their grandparents. I hope that all of our special visitors will gain a sense of how our students spend their school day and the values that they learn while they are here at Corpus Christi.
First Reconciliation Meeting for 2nd Grade Parents
There will be an informative parent meeting tonight in the Adult Education Room at 6:30.
Bible Verse of the Month
Each month students learn a Bible Verse. We recite it together at school during our morning prayers. We also pray a particular prayer together for the duration of the month. During the month of September, our verse is Proverbs 3:5

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.”

Our prayer focus is the Our Father .

We would love for you to practice the verse with your children at home.
Grandparents Day
We will celebrate Grandparents Day TOMORROW, September 25th . We will begin with our school Mass at 8:30, followed by a reception in the banquet hall. Afterwards, grandparents are welcome to tour the school and visit their grandchildren’s classroom. We look forward to seeing all of our Grandparents and Grandfriends on this day.
Book Fair
It’s book fair week! Tuesday there will be a “Fairy Grandparent” event following our Grandparents Day Mass.

That evening, we will have a family “Night Owls” event from 4-7, where families can shop in their pajamas if they choose. The book fair will be at our school until noon on Friday.
Change for a Cure
Our annual Change for a Cure project to raise money for The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation took place a few weeks ago, and it was a success! We are so pleased to announce that our students raised $4,612.93. What a wonderful example of how small things can add up to make such a difference. Thank you all for your generosity.
A is Africa
We are excited to announce a partnership with the Matim Primary School located in Arusha, Tanzania, East Africa. Last year we donated school supplies to A is for Africa, which supports the school. We learned that the school children were so appreciative of the supplies they received. They even shared some videos of thanks with us! In one they are singing the National Song of Tanzania while waving our Alabama flag, and they have one of our Corpus Christi school pennants. In the other they are saying “Thank you Corpus Christi.” You may access the videos here:

We are excited about this partnership and know this will be a wonderful opportunity for our students to learn about children in another part of the world, whose daily lives are so different from our own. Some classes will exchange letters with the students, and of course we will keep them in our prayers. We were excited to have the founder of A is for Africa, Molly Smith, visit our school present us with the flag of Tanzania.

All animals must go home after the blessing. If you are not able to bring your child's pet, children may choose to bring a picture of their pet. A special blessing will be offered for all pets, even those not present.
Respect Life Month
In October we will celebrate Respect Life Month. We have several important activities planned thus far. First, we will teach the student lesson for the Child and Adolescent Protection Policy. Your children bring home information for you to discuss with them. Second, we will pray a Pro-Life Rosary together as a school after Mass on Tuesday October 9. In addition to these events, many of our 7th and 8th grade members of the Pro Life Club will be meeting other students on Friday mornings at 6:30 as they recite the Rosary together and pray for life as part of the 40 Days for Life Campaign.
