Parents, are you filling your child's bucket every day? Our guidance lessons are all about bucket filling from the book
Have you filled a bucket today?
by Carol McCloud.
The book talks about how everyone has an invisible bucket they carry around
with the purpose of holding good feelings about themselves. Filling buckets can be as simple as smiling, giving deserved praise, high-fives, helping your child clean up a mess he or she made, or a special treat with just the two of you. Once your bucket is full, it overflows to others.
Children in the classrooms are very receptive to the idea of filling buckets. We also talk about dipping into someone else's bucket by ignoring, rude words or hurtful actions. Help your family become life-long bucket fillers just by talking about the concepts, modeling bucket filling, and praising them when they take the initiative to fill buckets themselves.
Thanks to our generous PTA, HUNTERS CREEK EL has purchased a year's subscription to DreamBox Learning's Math Program,
an online, Intelligent Adaptive Learning(tm) program that helps all students
achieve better, faster math proficiency. The subscription is for every student in our school, Kinder - 5th. Most grade levels started it this week. Kinder and First Grade will have a slower start as they learn to log in.
Your student can access DreamBox Learning from any computer, 24 hours a day,
DreamBox is an online program - there's no software to download! All you need is
a high-speed Internet connection and Adobe Flash. Adobe Flash is free and is
included with many Internet browsers.
Each grade level may set up an easy access for their students through their grade level blog or Google Classroom. But, there is also the 'regular' way to login from home. Your student should know how to get to Dreambox by now, or in the next few days.
"DreamBox Math" in the App Store. Download DreamBox Math Green and
DreamBox Math Blue to ensure your student has access to the full catalog of
DreamBox Learning Math lessons. When prompted in the app, use this School
