INTRODUCTIONS OF OUR NEWEST FACULTY MEMBERS...

Our new librarian, Lisa Stultz:
Hi Cougars! I am Lisa Stultz, and I will be the new librarian at Hunters Creek! I am looking forward to working with the staff and students here at Hunters Creek and hope to quickly become a technology and literary resource for all. I have been in education for 11 years, 10 of those as a librarian. I started my education career in Alief ISD and previously worked in Spring Branch. Most recently, I helped to open a high school in Klein ISD.

I attended University of Louisiana Lafayette for my Bachelor's Degree in English and Louisiana State University for my Masters in Library and Information Science. My husband, Eric, and I have two awesome kids: Greta will be a junior at Stratford, and Toby is starting his fourth year at Westchester as a freshman in the fall. Both kids love swimming and just finished up another successful year in the Memorial Spring Branch summer swim league.

I am excited to be back in the Spring Branch ISD community and am excited to be a part of this great team at Hunters Creek Elementary!

Our new 1st grade teacher:
Howdy Cougars! My name is Jenny Duplechain and I am beyond excited to have been given the opportunity to teach 1st grade at Hunter's Creek Elementary. I have heard so many  wonderful things about the HCE community. I am anxious to meet the faculty, staff, parents and most especially the students.

There are a few things I would like to share so you can get to know me better. I was born in Houston and grew up in Kingwood, TX. I am a proud Fightin' Texas Aggie class of 2007! WHOOP! Upon graduation from Texas A & M I taught Kindergarten for one year and 2nd grade for four years at Fall Creek Elementary in Humble ISD. A summer mission trip to Honduras inspired me to take an adventure of a lifetime to teach in the mountains of Comayagua, Honduras. I taught 2nd grade for a year and 3rd grade for a year as well as serving as English language coordinator in a small bilingual school. The last two years I have been teaching 3rd grade Math, Science and Social Studies at a neighboring school, St. Cecilia Catholic School.

Currently I reside in a cozy garage apartment in the Heights. I enjoy staying physically active by participating in local running clubs and training for future races and triathlons. I'm a very lucky girl to have a triplet brother and sister, 3 nieces and 3 nephews.

I am eagerly anticipating the joys and challenges of teaching 6 and 7 year olds as I continually strive to model a love of learning.  I am looking forward to meeting everyone very soon!

Our new 3rd grade Language Arts/Social Studies teacher:
Hi, Cougar Families! My name is Sarah Morphey, and I am thrilled to be joining the third grade team, teaching Language Arts and Social Studies. I am no stranger to Spring Branch ISD, as this will begin my
30th  year. (Did I just say that???) I began my career in first grade at Rummel Creek Elementary, followed by Terrace Elementary, where I taught first through fifth grades, and most recently at Meadow Wood Elementary, working with fourth and fifth graders. I cannot wait to begin my newest adventure at Hunters Creek this fall.

I am a Chicago native and attended school at Illinois State University, graduating with a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Education. It was fate that I was recruited by Spring Branch after graduation and took a leap of faith, moving to Houston without ever having been here before. It undoubtedly was one of the best decisions I ever made.

I am married to a wonderful man, Mike, and we are celebrating our 30 th anniversary this summer. (Did I just say that???) We have three amazing children; my oldest son, Jacob is an Aggie and an Industrial Engineer. My middle son, Joseph, is majoring in Secondary Education at the University of Houston, and my daughter Hannah just graduated and is heading to College Station. Go Aggies and Cougars! (Both U of H and Hunters Creek!)

I was born with the desire to teach, and I maintain that passion today. I cannot imagine another job that would be nearly as rewarding and challenging as that of an educator. I am so grateful to be joining Hunters Creek and look forward to meeting everyone this August!

Our new 3rd grade Math/Science teacher:
Hi, my name is Sandra Saint Val and I am excited to begin my journey as a first year teacher at HCE! I will be teaching third grade math/science. I've always dreamt of teaching third grade growing up and I fell in love with teaching the grade level during Student Teaching. I recently graduated from the University of Houston and I am happy to continue being a Cougar.

I grew up in the CyFair school district. However, Spring Branch has been my second home from all of the friendships and communities built from the church where my father works. The Spring Branch area is also near and dear to my heart because it's where I met my future husband, Isiah. In my free time, I enjoy crafting, being outdoors (i.e. riding my bike and playing sports), watching HGTV, and using my calligraphy skills.

I look forward to growing a relationship with each of you and continue being a life-long learner to make sure the students will be successful this year and for many years to come. Teaching is heart-work to me. I intend to help my students have an "I Can" mindset daily and to believe in themselves. I am excited to build a classroom community where my students will feel welcomed, valued, and loved.

Our new 4th grade Language Arts/Social Studies teacher:
Hi! My name is Ashley Daugherty and I'll be teaching 4th grade ELAR/SS at Hunters Creek Elementary this year. This will be my 4th year in the classroom and I'm so excited to continue my teaching journey with the Hunters Creek team!

I grew up in Cypress, Texas where I always valued my teachers and learning. After graduating from Texas Tech University, I went back to Cy-Fair to start my teaching career. I actually taught Home Economics (now called Family Consumer Science) at Watkins Middle School for two years. Then I decided to go back to school to start on my Masters degree and move down to e
lementary. I stayed in Cy-Fair and transferred to Fiest Elementary where I taught 4th grade ELAR/SS.

I absolutely love teaching these subjects and 4th grade! I believe that instilling the love of reading and writing in my students is so important. Creating an environment that is safe and positive will allow those students to feel confident in their learning and want to read and write. Plus, we get to teach Texas History and who doesn't love that?!

I just got married at the beginning of June and we are moving to the Spring Branch area this July. It's been a crazy whirlwind of a summer but at the same time, so memorable!

I look forward to working with all of you! I also can't wait to meet all my new students and families for this school year!

Our new 5th grade Language Arts/Social Studies teacher:
Hi Cougars!  My name is Briana Mouyos.  I recently moved back to Texas from Tennessee.  I am so excited to join HCE as a fifth grade ELA/SS teacher.  I knew from a very young age that I was meant to be a teacher.  I earned my bachelor's degree from Northern Illinois University.  Since graduating, I have taught second, fourth, and seventh grade.  This year will be my seventh year of teaching.

I have two wonderful daughters.  We enjoy going to the movies, swimming, bowling, and traveling.  We have been fortunate enough to travel all over Europe.  My love for history grew with each experience I gained.  My most memorable moment was seeing The Anne Frank House.

I look forward to this coming school year!  My classroom will create a positive and engaging environment, where my students will enjoy learning.  I am ready to for us to have a year filled with learning, success, and memories.
