Council to Consider DPS Purchases
The Sikeston City Council will conduct a special City Council Meeting at 5 PM, Thursday, July 14 in Council Chambers of Sikeston City Hall, 105 E. Center Street.  An overview of the meeting's agenda follows.

Authorization to Purchase DPS Vehicles
In the FY-17 budget, approved June 15, funding was appropriated for the purchase of DPS Vehicles.  At this time DPS is seeking authorization to proceed with the purchase of 2 police package Tahoes for Administration and Patrol Division, and a 4-wheel drive pickup for Fire Division. All would be purchased on the State Contract from Don Brown Chevrolet. Back to Index
Second Reading & Consideration of Bill 6027, 
Re-adoption of Ethics Ordinance
Bill #6027, commonly called the ethics ordinance or conflict of interest ordinance, is required by State law to be on file with the Missouri Ethics Commission.  This ordinance is renewed every other year, and requires the City Manager and City Clerk to file annual personal financial statements with the Ethics Commission. The City Council is not required to file these financial statements unless the Council member receives more than $500 in remuneration from the City. Back to Index
Second Reading & Consideration of Bill 6028, 
Authorization to Execute Contract  with  Missouri Highways &Transportation Commission
With many of City's proposed wayfinding signs and gateway monuments to be located on MoDOT right-of-ways, the City is required to execute Form TR42. This agreement sets forth standards for signage fabrication, installation and maintenance. Additionally, the City assumes all responsibility for the signage it installs. Bill 6028 authorizes the Mayor and City Clerk to execute Form TR42. Back to Index
Should there be no further business an executive session to discuss litigation, property and Public Safety response plans will be convened. Upon the conclusion of the executive session the meeting will be adjourned.

Dodi Conrad Exhibition
The works of Bollinger County artist Dodi Conrad will be exhibited this month at the Sikeston Depot Museum & Gallery, 116 W. Malone.  Known for her work in oils, Conrad's pieces have been featured in numerous books, including "Painting Missouri".  Depot hours are Tuesday-Saturday, 10 AM-4 PM.

Get ready for the Jaycee Bootheel Rodeo and all the great events planned for August 10-13.

Sikeston JC Bootheel Rodeo
Gates open at 6 PM with the action starting at 7 PM.  Concerts follow the last rodeo event of the evening. Long round bullfighting will be held Thursday, August 11 with short round bullfighting held Friday, August 12.
