Counseling Corner March 19, 2018

Dear Saints,

I pray that you had a restful weekend after a busy week full of challenge testing and planning for the upcoming school year.

In HIS Love,
Mrs. Garcia

Challenge Test Results
If you took a challenge test last week for an Honors or AP course for the upcoming 2018-2019 school year, your results will be emailed to you by Counselors on Friday, March 23. If approved, you will be registered for that specific Honors or AP course by your Counselor. You will register for all other courses in Aeries during the week of March 26.
Registration Week 3/26 - 3/29
From Monday, March 26 through Thursday, March 29 students will self-register for the courses that they've selected for the upcoming school year. Remember to use the 'course requests' tab on your student portal to successfully complete registration.  Check out this helpful video tutorial!

CLHS Homework Center!
We are excited to announce that we now offer an after school Homework Center.  The Homework Center is open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:45 p.m. - 3:45 p.m. in room 202 . Students can use this as a quiet place to get homework done after school and to receive help from peer tutors.  Math and Science tutoring will be available on Tuesday; and English, Social Science and Foreign Language tutoring will be available on Thursday.
Princeton Review Practice ACT
Princeton Review will be hosting a FREE practice ACT on Saturday, March 31 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the MPR for all CLHS Sophomores and Juniors. This is a great way to gain exposure to standardized test formatting and to work on those critical thinking and problem solving skills. Princeton Review will mail results home within 3-4 weeks of the test date. Remember this is a practice test and will not go on your transcript or college board account. Click here to sign up!
Los Angeles College Tour
Crean Lutheran offers college tours to all Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors. Our third trip will be on Wednesday, April 25, when we will visit University of Southern California and The Master's University. The registration form along with payment and medical release form are due on April 9.
Learning Success Program
Any LSP student enrolled in an AP class that has approved accommodations through College Board is eligible to use those for the exam scheduled in May.  If you would like to use your accommodations, please review the request procedure and complete the request form. All requests and form are due back to Mrs. Oliver by 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 29, 2018.  If you have any questions, please reach out to Mrs. Oliver as soon as possible. Click Here to access the request form.
Tip of The Week
Waste some time with God. Not all your time with God has to be Bible study and fervent prayer. Waste some time with Him. You can spare a half hour! Find a nice lawn and lie on your back looking up at the clouds He's made. Skip some stones. Collect some fallen leaves. Sit with your back against a tree and listen to some of your favorite Christian music. When you "waste time with God" that time is never wasted.
