Princeton Review Practice ACT
Princeton Review will be hosting a FREE practice ACT on S aturday, March 31 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m in room 207A/MPR for all CLHS Sophomores and Juniors. This is a great way to gain exposure to standardized test formatting and to work on those critical thinking and problem solving skills. Princeton Review will mail results home within 3-4 weeks of the test date. Remember this is a practice test and will not go on your transcript or college board account. Click here to sign up!
Summer College Course/Trip for Juniors and Seniors
Crean Lutheran Juniors and Seniors are invited to participate in Concordia University Irvine's Around the World University Summer Travel Course from June 16 - July 10, 2018. Students will travel to China, Cambodia, and Thailand to participate in three service projects and earn three college credits. This trip is being led by CUI professor Dr. John Norton, who is also a CLHS parent. The registration deadline is February 2.  Click here to apply.

Sophomore College Planning Night

We will cover information related to preparation for the ACT/SAT and answer many of your questions regarding the college search and application process. Bulletin for AP Students and Parents Now Available
The 2017-2018 Bulletin for AP Students and Parents is now available. It will be distributed in students' AP classes; you can access it online here. It includes important information about the AP Exams, including the policies and procedures for exam administration and security that help ensure a fair and uniform testing experience for all students. On exam day, you'll be asked to sign a statement on your answer sheet indicating that you understand and agree to the policies and procedures in this publication. Please take some time to review the bulletin and reach out to your AP teacher or counselor with any questions.
KidGuard Essay Scholarships
KidGuard is passionate about the healthy development of children and families. The KidGuard for Education Scholarship is part of their effort to bring awareness and inspire solutions on issues such as cyberbullying, online predators, teen suicide and childhood depression in the age of technology. KidGuard is offering multiple essay scholarships ranging from $500-$1,000 for students at Crean Lutheran High School. Click here for more information.
PSA Contest -- Calling all Filmmakers
The Orange County Sanitation Department is hosting a video contest for the 2017-2018 school year. The contest challenges students in high schools and colleges located in our service area to be creative and put together a video that educates people on the importance of wastewater treatment. The winning students will receive a cash prize and their videos will be used as OCSD public service announcements and educational outreach materials throughout Orange County. "We the Students" Essay Competition
Each year, "We the Students" essay competition gives high-school students from across the U.S. a chance to share their perspectives on a trending topic .This year, they are asking students to consider what role the government should play in monitoring internet content and are awarding $20,000+ in scholarship and prizes to the winning essayists, including:
  • 1st Place - $5,000 and a scholarship to our 2018 Constitutional Academy in Washington, D.C.
  • Runners Up - Six prizes at $1,250 each.
  • Honorable Mentions - Eight prizes at $500 each.

Learning Success Program

Tip of The Week
Give your child some grace this week. Finals can be a stressful time, so support your child in any way that you can. Give them extra words of encouragement. Provide a quiet place for them to study and be sure they have a nutritious breakfast each morning. Those extra efforts can go a long way!
