ALL ARE WELCOME! Join us as you can!

I was a stranger and you welcomed me.
Matthew 25:35

At the center of Jesus' teachings is that radical transformation of our hearts comes most often through the stranger. The Gospels are full of stories in which Jesus welcomed the stranger, was an ally for those who society had cast out, and advocated for the poor. One prime example of this radical ministry is how Jesus welcomed all to a common table - sinners, lepers, foreigners, and tax collectors - to share in a meal and be in community.

If we as Christ followers want to radically change our hearts to be in line with God's aim for creation, then we have to follow the examples of Jesus' radical hospitality toward all people. We must unconditionally welcome the strangers to be an integrated part of our communities. God calls us through the scripture to be in communities that are living ethically and compassionately. As disciples we are called to create a world of social justice, where the foreigner and the stranger in our midst are welcomed without any strings attached. If we are to be the image of God in our world, we have ask who the strangers among us are and how we should welcome them into our community.

In Isaiah 58, God issues a call and a challenge-to love one another more deeply by sharing what we have with those in need. One Great Hour of Sharing enables the larger church to share God' love throughout the world, loosening the bonds of injustice through the Self-Development of People; sharing our bread with the hungry through the Presbyterian Hunger Program, and bringing the homeless poor into our homes through the Presbyterian Disaster Assistance.

As you think about the money that you spend during your week either on coffee, food, or  Amazon please consider how your money can help the lives of others. This week, instead of bying Starbucks or Chipotle consider participating in our ONE GREAT HOUR OF SHARING. Your contribution of any amount will make a difference in the lives of our neighbors across the globe. Envelopes are may be found in the pews or you may also give online at and select One Great Hour of Sharing.
